Darlington RACE thread ! ! !

Happy it was a Ford but the rest of the contingent were less than impressive looking at results. But I’d the 4 can compete the rest have no excuse.

I think if Matt was more familiar with the car he could’ve picked up another spot or two.
IMO, there’s a bunch of guys in the Cup Series that wouldn’t make it in a full time Xfin ride.

Yeah I’d go with that. Hilarious when people question the ability of these guys. Some may be dumbasses but the physical talent is there. They are not Gods and I’m sure there are people with huge amounts of talent that never make it but to act like any of thes drivers are total schmuks is ludicrous.
 
Ability is still there no matter the age.

Harry Gant, Dick Trickle, Mark Martin, I could go on.

Juan Manuel Fangio was older winning in F1.
Mario Andretti
Emerson Fittipaldi
Nigel Mansell was older in CART still winning.

All were champions at some point, Kenseth is no different... Kenseth got fired because Jones came at a cheaper price.

That was literally it.

And please list the top 10s of Trickle, Gant, Martin, etc. in their final years in Cup

A mixture of himself and Chevy being ****.

JJ isn't lacking pace anymore, after now going into 100 races after a win. Its like you forgot how pace the field because of not doing it often enough.

JJ had a car good enough to finish top 3, however impatience cost him. He knows it.

So older Jimmie failed or was it the Chevy?
Lotta Chevies in the top 10, just not Jimmie’s.
 
what happened to The Yotas? they didn't lead a lap, never were a threat to win and this isn't the first race that has happened this year.

Can you read Mr Bobby?

He clearly is saying older Jimmie failed due to being *rusty*, as he sort of forgot how to pace the field with the fastest car.

Jimmie is gonna string together some good runs when he finds his footing, and will probably win a few races. The question is, are we going to see the Bobby of 10 years ago who hated Jimmie? Or are we gonna see a more supportive Bobby towards a champion who is, as you have said before.. sundowning?

This was discussed in the off-season, wasn't it? Chevy got ahead, Ford did their homework, and Toyota is about where there were last year, now, a bit behind the ball.

I think a Ford wins the title this year.

He crashed out, he hasn't adjusted well to these high downforce cars. Its obvious, but with no practice he was doing extremely well.

You just don't lose talent overnight, he crashed due to impatience. You saw him looking in his mirror more than ever when he took the lead.

Its a mix between them both, outside of Chase, Alex Bowman, Kurt Busch, Larson. Who else in a Chevy won since Chevy switched to the Camaro?

That's literally it, Haley won a rain shortened race. That's all who have won for Chevy since 2018 when the car was re-skinned.

He's been up and down, so has Chevy. Its fault on both parties.

I read well. Just looking for the poster to recognize reality. Dude four years older than Jimmie finished top ten in a car/package he’s never been in. I was just hoping for perspective.

I think that incident with Custer at Mosport left a bad taste in a mouths of many suiters at the time...
