Daytona 500 Pole Qualifying

I don't beleive qualfying showed what everyone has with the wind coming up after just a few had made runs alot of cars did'nt run the numbers they could have. Going to make for some interesting racing Thursday :D

Qualifying and pit selection is not a concept that's lost on me. What I am saying is, of all of the tracks that NASCAR visits during the season, Daytona & Talladega pit selections mean the least. The draft is the equalizer. Even if you don't pit next to your partner you still come in and go out together. Pitting next to each other means little to nothing.

Geez DP I'm trying to get pumped up for Thurs Twins and your tossin a wet towel on me :p

It does provide an edge if there is a late flag and people hit the pits for new tires. IMO, tires will be more important at Daytona this year than in years past. If you can get in and out on fresh rubber with your end of race pushing partner, it sure makes things easier.

I'm sure Kyle's speed on 4 fresh tires on a bent up car didn't go unnoticed.

I'd like to see Thursday go good for you so, OK, I'll rephrase it this way just for you.

Thursday's Gatorade Dual 150's have to be the single most important day in all of auto racing. Everything is on the line for each of the drivers, crew chiefs, pit crews, & team owners on this day alone. Success is an urgency that must be met in the results of this race for each and every team on the track. These are not just any races, these races determine the starting position and pit selections for the Daytona 500. Pit selection @ Daytona is of the utmost importance as it will most certainly determine the outcome of the 500 on Sunday. These races indeed spell Drama with a capital 'D'. Life outside of the racing world will pause as we know during these heart-pounding, suspenseful, dramatic two hours of non-stop action. During this period of time you will come to realize your reason for existence in this world and all of life's questions will finally be realized.

FlFlash, stop reading here!

==========> What I told FlFlash above is complete BS. With the implementation of the top-35 these races have become little more than eye candy and only a form of brief entertainment. They've become races to determine which 8 additional cars are allowed to compete in an already pre-determined field. The way to comprehend this is so convoluted that it takes the likes of a Waltrip and/or a McReynolds to explain to you what positions on the track on important. You may find yourself rooting for Awesome Bill to finish 22nd just to make the show. None the less, enjoy the races. I know I will be. <==========

In case anyone wondered.....

Carl Edwards & Greg Biffle MUST start their qualifying race to keep their Daytona 500 front row spot.
