Daytona 500 RACE thread ! !

You can tell Clint still misses it as opposed to JG who you couldn’t pay him enough money to get back in one of those cars ( and deservedly so btw). Clint has been refreshing this whole race

Jeff has nothing left to prove. Clit will be known as the guy who had an itch

I honestly think the 11 is a sitting duck. I think when push come to shove someone is going to straight knock him out of the way. He's the alpha and everyone knows it. Harvick had him if that restart was a GWC...

We’ll see, I think if AD has a shot at it he’ll straight up drive through the 11 if need be, he’s done it before and will do it again if situation calls for it. But I don’t know, that 11 looks unbeatable

Jeff Gordon raced for 40 years. It probably wasn't any fun for him after the playoff stuff.

If they run the next 40 laps single file, this will be the most depressing Daytona 500 since 2013.

Anyone else loving Clint and Jeff in the booth?

They have outstanding chemistry.

For the first time since about 2003, I'd say Fox has the best coverage right now. Of course, NBC's commentary booth sets the bar low right now.

Didn't he want to get out of it in the mid-00s and France straight-up said "no you're staying"? I've looked for the article but I couldn't find it to save my life.

This race seems like every 500 of the last 5 years or so. It's all about the last 15 laps! 500 miles serves no purpose in this era of NASCAR. Strategy and discretion has no place in NASCAR.

I 100% support 200 milers on pack tracks.
I dont see NASCAR tolerating this for long. They need to start eliminating the last car on the lead lap after every 5 laps or something. The biggest race of the season has been a follow the leader train for nearly 100 laps.

I wouldn’t say it’s been bad at all. Some instances of logging laps, but aggressive racing and many near wrecks. It’s going to be wild once they start pitting

Mostly single file, and I know I'm watching this knowing Denny Hamlin will win and hoping he doesn't.

Denny Hamlin has now led 80 laps he led 79 last year

When has the anything but the last 15 laps mattered in plate racing? There were times when cars were fast enough that they couldn't be beat, but what mattered for them other than not getting wrecked?

I love Blaney - need to see more - Cindric is going to be the next Penske star if he ever gets there.

To think, the Fox booth is this good with a race that's this bad.
Just want to piggyback of this. You are right. The coverage is great.

You can tell Jeff absolutely loves Clint. Clints humor/seriousness balance is near perfect. I thought he'd be basically color commentary, but he's awesome

He needs a mood enhancer.

I might roll him a blunt.
