Daytona 500 Raceday Thread

Thats true if the drivers could have slowed up to avoid an accident then there wouldnt have been one. So lets Go RCR!

What a race, I was torn at the end harvick or martin.
For martin just because he has tried so many times to win this one. But hey 2nd isnt bad either. Best placing he has had.

I was yelling for Mark, then Kevin, then Mark, then Kevin.

By the time it was over I really didn't know whose name I was yelling. LOL

6 years ago today, I was in tears. I'm a bit teary-eyed today, but because it was so good to see Richard Childress smile in Victory Lane at Daytona.

I had a sore throut from yelling, my dad was like ok Bill its just a race!

Tell your dad it's NOT just a race --- it's DAYTONA ! ! :) :)

The atmosphere is so totally different than any other track/race I've ever attended. It is truly electric.

The sad part is my boss called me in to work before they threw the green i was like ok... Went to get a tape then she calls and said nevermind. :bounce:

Go Childress/Burton for 07!

And Kevin Harvick wins... FOXSPORTS.com has highlights. If you know what you're doing, you can tear a download link from Temporary Internet Files.

I for one was glad to see them race back to the line.

Im mad at Blaney for taking out Schrader, because thats who i had picked

I think NASCAR was very gunshy about throwing the caution this race. At least twice, IMO, cautions should have been thrown or thrown earlier than they were.

The first specific time was right before the big wreck that brought out the red flag (the Jr/Rudd/Hamlin/Truex/McMurray/etc wreck). A couple laps before that happened when a bunch of guys got together and there were 3 or 4 cars running around smoking, cars zipping in and out everywhere. NASCAR should've thrown the yellow, if for no other reason, to calm the field down and give those w/rubs or damage in general a chance to check out their cars.

The other time was on that final lap. If they throw the caution, everyone backs down and at least half of those cars would've been saved.

reck, notice they only have 42 cars listed. With Mikey still in the hole, I guess they don't figure it's worth their ink to list him. :)

haha, i just noticed that myself..i wonder what's up with that.

I honestly don't think a yellow with a wreck coming off turn 4 would have really changed anything. My question is why did they bother to make a rule to promote saftey to begin with, when they knew damn well this type of thing would happen anyway. In my opinion it was all about making exciting finishes and not saftey.

The "sports guy" on the local news just said its harvicks 2nd 500 win

Here's how Insider has those points..........

Let's get real....all MM had to do was push Harvick into the wall. Cake.

Dale woulda

He would have. But The only 2 idiots left in nascar that would still do that are Gordan and Stewert.

And both Busch brothers, Vickers, both Gordons, Jr, Edwards, Biffle, Mayfield, and a host of others that I can't think of, I have seen "move" someone out of the way for a win.

But the funny think about Dale is, as many times as he ran second at Daytona, he never tried to move the eventual winner out of the way.

You are one to talk about idiots Fun in my whatever, that's a wonderful remark..

I don't know if #5 was trying to get ahead of Harvick for a push to the front or trying to block him for #01 but after running a smart race, he's probably kicking himself this morning.

Now I'm a Kensth fan but it was just hard racing - same as he and #26 so it's all equal there, IMHO.

As for all the Martin talk, that's not how he races and I think any reasonable fan knows that. Not to say that he's never bumped anyone 'cause I know better but it's likely the reason he may never win a cup.

And finally, the #6...who would of thought that? I thought his comments about California next week where spot on.

You are only up in arms becouse i dissed Gordan. Gordan is a cheap skate dirty racer Just Like Dale Sr. was. I didnt say 1 negative thing two you and you call me a idiot?

If you are gonna diss anyone, would you at least spell their name correctly??? It is Gordon, not Gordan. Thanks!

Let's get real, people.

When you are coming to the checkers, you would do almost anything to win. However, that being said, I was gratified to see that Kevin and Mark stayed off each other --- to give each other room and a chance to win.

Both drivers raced hard and clean. One of them won, the other didn't. It could easily have been a fiasco with one taking out the other --- it wasn't.

Regardless of the outcome, be happy that they had a chance to race for the win.

I suppose it gets lost in the controversy but Harick and Martin raced each other clean to the end they both deserve congratulations.

MM and KH take each other out coming to the line and Burton wins!

Z, you are the one pushing the envelope here, so I suggest you calm down or be penalized.
