Daytona Pre Season Testing

The first two minutes of Fox Sports 1's inaugural primetime NASCAR Sprint Cup Series broadcast consisted of two old Earnhardt stories, Larry McReynolds declaring Austin Dillon the 2014 Daytona 500 winner and 2014 Sprint Cup Series Championship and Darrell Waltrip telling us how Austin Dillon is exactly like Dale Earnhardt.

**** me senseless.
It's FOX's play on the ESPN Manning/Tebow/LeBron circle jerk.

FOX Sports 1 does that enough with Johnny Manziel. I've seen at least six segments on him in three hours of FS1 stick and ball coverage in the past two days. Did you know he declared for the NFL Draft? And he's going to Jacksonville and Houston and Cleveland?

Is that light under the #3 and #88 to measure ride height or something?
it is a lazar beam and it is measuring how much yaw the car has. It is fixed so when the car is in the corner, they can measure how much the car body moves to the right compared to the rear end.

well about now, they are starting to figure out that motorsports consistently pulls in more watchers. Race hub, even with a crappy time slot and re runs is pulling more viewers than the rest of their daytime daily programming. Trying to dilute the airwaves with more stick n ball, when there are only so many stick n ballers isn't working that well so far. Today they did at least make room for more motorsports, but they just had to show the failing "crowd goes wild", I don't see that mess continuing when contracts are up.

And, the same guys will be in the winners circle when the race is over.;)
It's about the journey, not the destination. The usual suspects will almost always be frontrunners but the goal is to make entire weekend more exciting, especially with the TV changes coming up.

Can't Austin Dillion but man that Dow Chemical car is pretty to look at.

First time the 3 car hits the track in over a decade, especially at Daytona and he tops the charts? Either really coincidental or very fishy

I'm one of those guys that watches the testing towards the end where cars are really testing the boundaries. Let's hope for a great 2014 season! I already have some diecasts that I'm planning to order :p Also it will be a bit of a challenge remembering the number changes

I made it almost 5 minutes before I started fast forwarding to the parts featuring Jeff Gordon either on track or being interviewed.

Jr. beside the 3 for the first time in 13 years.

I'm more surprised with RCR as a whole, with Brian Scott and Matt Crafton running 2nd and 3rd.

They will still do it I bet, just like they do in cup despite all efforts to stop it. they will for sure run together in the closing laps, shooting water out like a steam engine..When you think about it, they can't change that on RP tracks, they ride around until the closing laps and then it is go time.
NASCAR is black-flagging Nationwide teams if they hook up in tandems.

What a joke.

Jim Utter said that they were "policing" it and the black flag was "an option". It's the same thing as 2012.
That seems like it would be awfully hard to do, especially consistently, unless the changes they're making to the cars are drastic. Even if they are, I like the tandems more than train/pack racing...oh, well.

If what Elliott Sadler said is what NASCAR told the drivers, it's complete bull****. This is gonna be some dreadful racing.

I'm looking forward to watching the Nationwide testing as soon as the two football games are over this afternoon. I'm pretty excited to see Bill Elliot and his son on the track together.
