Deegan update

There isn't that much time. These days 25 to not be in Cup yet is relatively ancient. That would be six years in A-ball, that's not going to happen. She'll be a Ford "fun haver" brand ambassador by then if she doesn't start running up front.

Grant Enfinger making a pretty good living at 37. I'd be good with her having a career like his.
It would not be that great if she stayed finishing in the 20'somethings.
 
She better contend for wins in Thorsport trucks. They’re putting top tier equipment on the track and have for 2 decades. If she continues to finish 15th to 25th this year there’s no way she gets to cup IMO

Ross Chastain is 30. I don't buy that argument. If Deegan isn't in Cup by 25 and Ford wants her there, she'll be there. I still suspect she's only two years away from her Cup debut.

HOWEVER ... the problem for Deegan and age is, female athletes peak much earlier than male athletes. A female gymnast is washed up by the time they're in their late teens or early 20s, whereas male gymnasts are competitive well into their late-20s. Female athletes tend to reach their peak in their early-to-mid-20s.

But, as in anything, there are exceptions.

Hailie Deegan does take her physical fitness more seriously than probably half or more of her male counterparts in the Craftsman Truck Series.
 
No real race car driver is content running mid-pack. Deegan isn’t a real race car driver. She’s a social media personality that runs in NASCAR’s lower series. She’ll never be a weekly threat in Xfin or Cup, regardless of team or car.

Unless they are re skinning those trucks right now they are gonna be running 3 shifts when they decide.

She doesn't have to contend for wins to be an elite driver, all she has to do is look hot in Instagram posts. That's what I've been told on here anyway. 😅

Racing is not "other sports".
This comparison doesn't equate in auto racing.

Bell started racing in Cup full time at 25, Briscoe was 26 and Preece was 28, Gragson will be 25 next year too.
25 years is definitely not too old for a Cup rookie.
 
page 26 and she hasn't even hit Cup yet, and now we know why she's as popular as she is.

Its hard to not see the parallels between DP10 going to SHR and Deegan and ThorSport. Deegan at least has ran longer (or at all) in lower series'

Everyone involved in the Hailie Deegan experiment is in too deep to end it at this point. IF Deegan becomes a contender, the potential for her as a marketing force for NASCAR is unlike anything this sport has seen in a generation, and that potential is what's being chased. Looks, personality, social media following, she has every other piece to become the future of American stock car racing, but the lingering question is talent.

No matter what, she will be in a top-tier Cup ride by 2026.
