Deegan update

NFG at Monterey.

Same in first practice at Portland today … dead last.

Watched her improve lap times by a couple of seconds and that was it. Other drivers improved much more as practice went along. You could see everyone was a bit quicker into the "chicane" and back out.

Yeah, I noticed she knocked about 3 seconds off. Then I noticed others were cutting more.

The Craftsman truck, ARCA, Xfinty, and Indy NXT cars just do not align and compliment her strengths.

The best thing to do to fix the missing chemistry is to put her in a Cup or F1 car to stop the disservice.

Maybe this series?

Well she finished 13th in the last race
of the season which is good. She didn't tear up
a bunch of gear this season so that's also good.
I think she has earned a spot for another season
in NXT with a goal of finishing in the top 10 in
points at seasons end.

13th because everyone behind her was laps down. She brings back the car but that's not hard when she's running so far behind the pack that she might as well be out there alone.

Unless she's bring some major sponsorship money, her return will depend more on who else is available than the limited potential she's shown this season.

Not bad for the first year in open wheel along with no experience in the car and at most of the tracks. Good job not tearing anything up which is important to smaller teams. Pretty sure if she can continue to find sponsorship she will be back next year.

"Whatever she has done this season could
have been done for a whole lot less at a
Skip Barber school."

I posted this earlier in Aug. and while reading up on her today I
realized she spent a good part of 2024 in a North American
F3 feeder series. Here I thought she just jumped in a NXT ride
this year with the only open wheel experience were backyard
go-carts. My bad.

......but comparing age, experience, results to Danica it's not really
close. By this time DP had a lot of IndyCar experience under her belt
including finishing 4th in a Indy 500. Looks like HD will finish 14th or so in the
NXT standings which is pretty much the bottom of the barrel of the drivers
who raced in all races. With Deegan just turning 24 she is really nearing the
crossroads of which direction her motorsports career goes.

Hey @StandOnIt

I watched the YouTube video that says she has racing plans for this year, but they haven’t been announced. Have you heard any scuttle butt?

Absolutely genius marketing move honestly.

She'll probably get a few wins in 15 car fields again and the Hype Machine will go back into overdrive.

Gotta give the girl props. She knows how to stay relevant and knows how to keep the hype machine going behind her.

Guess this thread is bound back for the nascar section.

I think she’s better than Toni.

Haiden Deegan is a punk, and he is also a talented motocross/supercross rider. He dominated the western region of the junior (250 cc) class in AMA Supercross this year. Competition is weak in the 250 class, and dividing it into western and eastern regions just makes it that much weaker. But it appears Deegan is ready for the 450 cc premier class. He'll step up to the 450's this summer for outdoor motocross.

Haiden Deegan is a jerk and a punk. A serial dirty rider. Almost every pass of another rider is an excuse to knock someone off the track or over a berm. AMA officials appear unwilling to escalate their punishments beyond minor, slap-on-the-wrist sanctions.

Last September in the finale of the grandiosely-named Super Motocross World Championship, Deegan showed what he's made of. Jo Shimoda led the points, and needed only to finish the race P5 or better to clinch the championship. Deegan's dirty riding attempts to crash out Shimoda would have been hilarious if it wasn't so pitiful. And there were actually pretty serious rewards on the line, as well as the risk of injury. Final result: Deegan did finally crash Shimoda, but Shimoda was able to remount and clinch the championship. Deegan injured himself in the attempt, breaking his collar bone.

#6 for Haiden "danger boy" Deegan.
