Dillon will use the #3 in Nationwide Series in 2012

Finally

It's when someone, probably Austin takes over the number in the CUP SERIES that's when it'll become a big deal.

Thank you. Someone also understands

The Media (and fans) made a pretty big deal of it when Joonyer drove a Wrangler-sponsored Number 3 Chevrolet in the Nationwide Series last year.
I'm just sayin...

CUP

Your all over this thing. My original post was AGAIN CUP RACING. I'm just sayin.

I get it, but although it may sting a little, it's RC's number. I will enjoy seeing that number back on the track --- be it trucks, N'wide, or CUP !

Right there with you TRL! This subject is already being blown out of proportion. I think we'll all survive the return of the 3. Heck, I don't even have to update my wardrobe. ;)

Dude... it's YOU-apostrophe-RE (you're) - a contraction of YOU ARE.

I'm just sayin'...

And the fact is that it WAS a huge deal when Joonyer ran the 3 in N'wide - in any case.

Thank you ms.robbybee. Now i understand your ramblings. You did'nt understand my post. I will try harder next time

I read an article from some sports media survey company regarding the revenue that could be generated from a black #3 in sprint cup driven by E jr...They said conservatively speaking in a better economy all the standard nascar garp like diecast, hats, jackets, ect, ect, $200 million could be sold within a 3-5 year span (about the same length as a normal drivers contract) Longer term $$$ with some winning race results the revenue could get as high as $500 million..They also said if the car was sponsored by GM the revenue could go higher....

Geez and we used to throw our polish race team t-shirts into the stands at our local short tracks.

It would be absolutely nuts. Heck if Jr & Harvick were driving eachothers cars meaning if Harvick were the driver of the #88 & Jr was at RCR except in a #3 black Budweiser car that was co-sponsored by GM, that would be crazy. That dream is never gonna happen though. With Jr signing what will probably be his last few years of driving away to Hendrick in the Dew car with minimal results, that's pretty much it. As of right now unless Jeffrey gets something going here soon, the Earnhardt driving lineage stops, you could almost say that it's already stopped seeing as how Jr has been non-existent for the last 7 years since 2004 pretty much...

Never gave my opinion on wether he's ready to make a qaulifying attempt in Cup I think it's good Pappa is wetting his feet.

My MAJOR point and sorta what this thread was about is that he will be making the Attempt in the #98 Cup car... NOT THE #3

Austin made huge improvements in his second year driving trucks. He has talent and might be ready for fulltime cup by 2013.

It will be fun watching Austin, Ricky and Trevor develop in the NW series next year. Kligerman still has a shot at driving the 22 next year.

What I don't understand is the concept of a "Dale Earnhardt fan". The dude has not raced since 2001. He died. There is no longer a Dale Earnhardt to be a fan of it. Junior yes. Senior no. (This should be fun)

Dale raced the 3 for the better part of his career. Sadly, that career came to an abrupt end that day in 2001. He is not around to race the 3 and NASCAR did not retire the number, so it should be open for someone else to use. It's still with RCR and I do not see ANY reason why there should be any question about Austin using the number.

It's not "with RCR", NASCAR owns and assigns the numbers. Anyone could've used it at anytime, but chose not to out of respect for Earnhardt.

The only people that seem to be making an issue about the '3' being run are non-Earnhardt fans. The rest of us that rooted for Sr. don't seem to have an problem with the '3' running again, in fact, most, like me are looking forward to it. Oh, and yes some of us are still Earnhardt fans.
