ESPN is a damn joke

Watch an IndyCar or F1 event on NBCSN and you'll see how they feel about motorsports. Most ESPN Nationwide postrace coverage this year has been to interview the winner and then GTFO as quickly as possible without showing points standings or anything/anyone else.

Exactly. ESPN doesn't give a crap because they're on the way out. Then again, they've never given a crap.

Hmmm I bet that really doesn't happen, it will be just like the other networks do things.
It probably will. Unfortunately, their surprisingly good F1 coverage will probably take a backseat.

FS1 and 2 seem to be getting it together, I like it better and better.

I sure as hell don't like the Regis Philbin show, can't remember the name of it.

Anything is better than reading about the race results in the newspaper like we had to do years ago. I feel mighty lucky that we can view all the different types of racing right in our livingroom now days.

I'm reading a business book right now by a guy from the Economist called The Long Tail. It's kind of complicated, but the guy came across an interesting theory in his research called the "98% Rule". He talked to the folks at internet places like Netflix, Rapsody, iTunes, Amazon, etc. and found that about 98% of their entire inventory is sold at least once a quarter. So even the most obscure niche products are getting sold/downloaded at least 4 times a year.

I think that's kind of NBCSN's approach. While ESPN and FS1 are fighting to the death over NFL, NBA, College Football and College Basketball coverage, NBCSN seems to be focusing on hockey, motorsports and soccer, which are moderately popular sports with dedicated loyal fanbases who are passionate about them. Could be a winning strategy, in my humble opinion. And certainly a lot cheaper than ESPN and FS1 dishing out the megabucks for the super popular sports leagues.

Sounds like that is indeed their approach. And not a bad one, either.

I like what this guy said. He and I could hang out for sure, couple of radicals

You can all talk stats and networks and ball sports as much as you want, but there is no longer a central hub for the world's second most viewed sport. Motorsports in this country is but a "by the way" on television programming. Since the demise of SPEED

there is no easy way to find any motorsports. It is spread all over the dial. Wake up you corporate jocks. The contingent of motorsport fans out here is larger than you know and we are tired of self centered management and programmers stuffing overzealous

ball sport analysis programs and second rate sports down our throat while the rest of the world continues to endorse motorsports at the level of respect it deserves. Formula 1 is viewed through three episodes every other week in this country. You'd think

Premier League Soccer could be preempted to allow F1 qualification to be shown LIVE. Wake up !!

NBCSN's approach to the Premier League has been strangely successful. They're single-handedly increasing the popularity of the BPL. They're also expanding F1's popularity. Their live telecast of Monaco on NBC recorded enormous ratings. That's why I think NASCAR's ratings will increase over on NBC.

I've been saying for a while that Fox Sports 1 alone won't take down ESPN, it's the combination of Fox Sports 1, NBCSN and CBS Sports Network (if they ever get it together). FS1 is challenging ESPN with the heavyweight sports while NBCSN is making something out of the sports ESPN is "above". The following sports no longer belong to the "Worldwide Leader": UEFA, BPL, F1, the Olympics, the World Cup (2018), NHL, NASCAR (2015) and now they face a very real possibility of losing the NBA to Fox Sports 1.

Seriously? Once again, your disdain for "stick and ball sports" clouds your judgement. Nine million people watch the Premier League versus two million people who watch F1.

Read the article @FLRacingFan posted.

Premier League's ratings have doubled since going to NBC and F1's ratings have more than doubled since going to NBC. NBCSN actually puts effort in to the sports they cover. It's not just there as filler content or anything.

One thing I enjoyed was NBCSN's surprisingly good ARCA coverage. I wasn't expecting it to be a two hour telecast with effort put in to it. And, come to find out, NBC's talking to ARCA about live coverage (possibly even on broadcast television) next season.

F1 coverage - they actually sent their announcers to Monaco to cover the race. They put the race on broadcast television and carried the race live for the first time in years. One of the things that frustrated me about SPEED is that almost every F1 race on SPEED was tape delayed. Fox Sports 1 has continued SPEED's tradition of airing races on tape delay, whether it's a half hour or it's almost a full day, and calling the broadcasts "live".

Your too dense or too ate up with stick n ball to get it. wish you would quit troubling yourself pulling my quotes into your wank, you are wasting energy in your quest to dethrone ESPN which I could care less about anyway, all it is is stick n ball stuff I don't watch. the poster and many many others know what we are talking about, and that is all that matters.

You forgot "wank".

I mean JFC dude, we get it, YOU don't like "stick n ball wank". Most of the rest of the world does. SPEED is gone. And it's not coming back. And there's more motorsports on television now between Fox, NBC, ESPN, CBS and MAVTV than there's been in a long time. And there's tons of races on YouTube.

If you don't like "stick n ball wank", don't watch it. I like football, baseball and soccer. NASCAR's going to be NBC Sports Network's most prized possession - I think that's something we can all be glad about especially given what NBCSN's done with F1 and the Premier League.

hmmm I believe I am posting in a RACING FORUM? and again, if you have a problem with talking about the lack of racing coverage with the demise of SPEED this year and all forms of racing coverage being spotty at best or spread out all over the networks in a RACING FORUM and also seem to have a problem with the big elephant in the room which is RACING in all forms? I don't know what to tell ya. Get over it. you and "most of the rest of the world" would be welcome on a STICK N BALL forum. Does watching "the crowd goes wild" instead of a post race show get your wank on? Sorry dude, I would rather watch a lawnmower race, AND I should be able to discuss that here in a RACING FORUM.

Who died and made you king?

There's been more racing coverage since the demise of SPEED than there was when SPEED was around. Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, NBCSN, CBS Sports Network and MAVTV have more than filled the void. There's racing on NBCSN right now, Formula Drift.

just keep wanking about stick n ball being all important in a racing forum, and dragging my quotes into your wank and you will find yourself in the same position again. You would think you would learn by now? You sound just like the network wankers, peeing down our legs and telling us it is raining. I'll hang with the guy below.

Motorsports was a "by the way" program on SPEED. This is some revisionist history crap like I've never seen before. SPEED cared about the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Every other motorsport program was filler content. SPEED was all about crap reality TV reruns.

like I have said before Jr. you don't get it because you are a fair weather motorsports person that thinks they know what they are talking about. Can't fix stupid. I'm going with this guy.
