Expectations for Bubba at Atlanta

Nascar is hell bent on injecting youth into the cup series ...... there are limits to all things and it is reaching a nauseating level IMO ........... I am surprised that they don't have all the older drivers digging their own graves in the infield.
'Injecting'? When you have as many older drivers leave as have in the last few years, they're going to be replaced with younger one. The only obvious 'injection' I see is Jones; he was a Gibbs decision, not NASCAR's.

If you want to rant about NASCAR promoting them, you may have ground to stand on. I can't blame them for putting some new faces on their promotional material; we've been looking at Jr, JJ, Tony, Jeff, and Kyle for the last several years.

Nobody seemed to mind looking at Dale Jr for the last several years

I didn't say anyone minded, but he's gone and NASCAR is going to promote drivers. New faces draw new attention and hopefully new fans. Why try drawing attention to guys in the twilight of their careers like Harvick or the Buschs? They've already established as much of a fan base as they're going to. With Kenseth as an example, some of them may be gone come the next contract renewals.

Bubba love will surpass anything we have yet to see in racing history ...... Chase who ?

Absolutely, but what will the title of his show on NASCAR Radio be...."Being Bubba"? BTW....Some people apparently love their driver bawling after a race. I don't. <Drop mic> I'll get roasted for this, but I don't care....Maybe the most gratifying part of Kyle's Championship was that after everything he had been through, Brex being there, and a great wife....the man was complete IMO. Pure joy. Not over the top. Look forward to seeing that again.

My thoughts on Bubba and Petty:

For starters, I think Bubba's a better driver than Aric Almirola myself. Last year, he had the same average start and a better average finish than Almirola in the same car without the advantage of having worked with the team for years and being familiar.

I also think Richard Petty's team will be improved this year with the alliance with the improved RCR team.

This year, Bubba will be a top-20 guy. Might even sneak in the playoffs. Next year, he'll be a top-15 guy and will make the playoffs.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around basing expectations off of a single start for Petty @ Daytona. Isn't that the race that many seem to cry that anyone can win. I mean many seldom give credit to any driver, considered normally as a back-marker, even when they win the race let alone coming in 2nd. I'd love to see Wallace do well. Good luck to him.

and he talks about Moody being an ass kisser. Both of ya define Biased

Bubba is a pleasant surprise. He hasn't really set the woods on fire in the lower series. But, I think he's made the most of his opportunity this far in a Cup Car. His 2nd place finish in the 500 was no fluke, he was very racey in his 125. I can see him having a fair amount of success in the RPM ride. "Fair" being a sliding scale, I'd say some top 10s are not out of the question. If nothing else, I'll enjoy Bubba, Bowman, Byron and Jones beating and banging with the vets. It should make for a fun year.
It is cool to have "young guns" again, I think they are going to flip the script and I really cannot wait.

you haven't been reading the Danica threads all these years I guess.

Work on your reading skills sport. The industry is listening to Moody. Doubtful that Kyle is listening to me. Wish he was....and he isn't the flavor of the month for me. He is the only flavor. I am a self-admitted fanboi, homer, biased as hell, whatever. Moody's only bias is to whoever he perceives is listening. My biased isn't concerned with who is listening. Moody=Ass kisser. Revman=Fanboi, homer, whatever.

That's a bit like the opinions I expressed over in other Bubba discussion. I'm hoping the feathers will loosen up some once the tar cools a bit more..

And we may well see it again

One thing I don't like is how with every accomplishment he has they will feel the need to point out the fact that he's black.

Actually, listen to his interview with Kenny Wallace. Bubba mentions it, but he says its the media that's driving the fact of him being the black driver. There are not many in the history of motorsports, its a big deal tbh. The fourth driver, but the second in history of being full-time.

Its big for me as I'm seen as the black kid who loves racing and has previously raced. Its not often you see it, but I just want Bubba to be who he is and continue to show people he's a wheelman.

It started that way with Larson, I think it was Japanese American, back when they had nothing to talk about but his dirt racing, hopefully the same will happen to Wallace.

LMAO.

This is the funniest post all year right here, keep up the material.

Dropped by JGR and KBM because of no sponsorship, goes to Roush performs well and dropped because of no sponsorship while your teammate with money continues to go. This after winning four times in the truck series for KBM in 2014. Dude has been through it and has had to prove himself time and time again to stay relevant in NASCAR. He had every right to show emotion.

Larson's potential is ridculous, he could be at the level of Tony Stewart by the time he's done with his ability on dirt and asphalt.

It is what happens when some are so biased they can't see the Forrest for the trees, I would expect nothing less :D

At a time when NASCAR is struggling to reach and maintain an audience, new blood is a good thing, at least it is to me. There is so much negative news about NASCAR, it's all bad. Has there been a positive NASCAR story or event that has come out in the past couple of years? If there's one, there's probably several negative stories or events to drown out any good news. I'm happy with Bubba, Larson, Elliot and Blaney, and I'm looking forward to the development of Byron, Jones and Bowman. Man, with all these new faces even the biggest pessimist would have to find at least one driver to like. I'm watching Atlanta from the drop of the green til the checkers. I'm hoping for some great racing. We got young guns trying to prove they can, and old guns trying to prove they still can. Should make for something good to watch.....I hope.

I agree with most of it. I have never bought in to the drama of struggling to maintain an audience part. Some sports leagues are still in denial mostly and some are trying to blame their falling attendance on this that or the other. That is where the negative news comes from mostly the press needing to create drama. I don't believe any of it is a big problem, but I do see making stuff up as being one. The leagues, broadcasters, players and drivers will adjust to the changes, some willingly, some because they have to.

Top-twenty finish, at best. If he finishes there, then he's doing well for RPM.

Wait a minute, don't compare last year to this. This is a whole new ballgame. New car, new support team, new driver. This is a new team. They are gonna face adversity some of it maybe of RCR's own making because they have been talking to Dodge but it looks like it is now a 2020 thing so it may not affect this year or the first part of next we will see. As for now, we are in a spot leaps and bounds better than the last few years. An easy top 15.

I am thinking the same. Had they stayed with RFR I would say 25-30th
