We all complain about nascar from time to time (some clocks are faster than others), so lets list what is just right about nascar inc, nascar the show and nascar tracks.

Lets see how far we get before our first negative comment.

I'll start:

Driver safety is top shelf. There is no there racing body does nearly as much for driver safety as nascar does.

Martinsville is damn near perfect.

The surfaces at Atlanta and Fontana are still great for wearing down tires.

Introducing new venues up through the Truck and Nationwide series is refreshing.

No other sport offers fans as much fun before the start of an event. Every single NASCAR race has a Super Bowl feel outside the stadium. And the pre-race activities inside leading up to the start, also second to none.

There's absolutely no better sport to see live. NASCAR has everybody else beat in that department.

I got a taste of the spectacle during the VifRL late models and can't wait for the full cup experience at M'ville. Got me the scanner too. :)

No other sport has ever made me forget what time it is or made me stand up regularly and cheer the Television. Safety features are second to none. Most of the tracks are much more fan friendly than any other sports facility's and the drivers are many times over more available to the fans than any other sport.

To get the best pre race experience you need to attend one of Bruton's tracks. Both Charlotte and especially Bristol have excellent pre race shows/activities.

Soon I'll be 30 minutes away from Charlotte and 3 hours from Bristol. :bounce:

Less than 5 from Talladega, Richmond and Atlanta...:bounce:

2 from Darlington...:bounce::bounce:

No other sport has had such a wide range of accessibility to it. From NASCAR Top Tree Tiers in racing to the NASCAR Home Tracks program and yes, even the NASCAR iRacing World Championship Series. Now the cost of entry may be a bit high (cost of car, trailer, tires, etc. However if you have the money, you can get started in stock car racing at your local track, and I think NASCAR deserves praises for that.

after on track clashes, the media/fan buildup during the week prior to the rematch.

i would say the rematch itself, but more often than not it's alot of bark, very little bite.

To the best of my knowledge there are no franchises or excessive owner fees. I like that, if a group or individual wants to get into the nascar racing business, aside from the direct cost (which is alone is incredibly expensive) the doors are open.

NASCAR has one of the shortest off-seasons in sports, so even when you're in full withdrawal, you know the new season is just around the corner :)
Between November & February is the longest season of the year

There really isnt much wrong with Nascar IMO
A few of the mile and a halfs get a bit boring but the road courses and short tracks make up for it.
We would miss Nascar if it was gone I bet

I believe there is some kind of ownership fee. I think you have to be a "member" of NASCAR to run a team. But I don't think it's extremely cost prohibitive.

To be honest and I am sure that I am going to get belted here, I dont see anything wrong with NASCAR. Sure that there are some tweeks that could occur, however if they do or dont.... it will not change my life, my opionion or my respect for the drivers, teams and the sport.

I have travelled from Australia on four occasions to go to a race (Daytona, Phoneix, Texas and Vegas) and the excitement and anticipation will never get old. The track experience is awesome, the sights, sounds and the smell of motorsport.... all of it.... just never gets old. Talking with the fans in the stands and wherever we go is another highlight of our freekin long trip to get to the USofA, along with seeing the 'welcome race fans' signs everywhere, shops supporting the race and even the Wal-Mart bargin bins getting rid of past merchandise.

Sure I have 'my driver' just like everyone else does and I will follow win or lose, when he running well and even on those bas ass days when he cant get it right. Regardless of position I will always support him and the team. After all.... we are from a country with a poption of a little over half that of California, we have no oval tracks and we drive on the other side of the road, however I am proud to see that my driver is running in the sport I love most.

Here's what cheeses me off,.... no just disapoints me, its some of the 'fans' here, on this forum. If their driver is not running well, they are so quick to throw him under the bus and bag him no end.... really.... way to 'support' your guy as a fan. Also the cheap shots at the no. 9 car. I get it that he is not from your country and that I am sure that you have a Billy Madison list of people that you would rather see in the car. But how about accepting some diversity and welcome the tiny 'international' element to an all American sport. After all, our countries fight together for the same right to freedom which we all enjoy, lets keep the battle just for the chekered flag.

I agree with all the above comments... shortest off season = win!

Also, this is the best sport for me and my 2 1/2 yr old daughter to watch and have together time. She loves the 'start your engines' ...... makes a daddy proud.

Lets go racin'

Cheers mates!

I was lucky enough to grow up racing. My career path turned out to be the right choice for me and I have worked many races over the years. I have met some of the neatest people at tracks in the stands and the pits as well.

Over all, race fans are some of the most loyal people in the world.

All Above , agreed. Also I like the fact that the drivers and crew chiefs are accessible to talk to reporters live and even drivers during the race and right when they get out of the car. No other sport can say they do this. At least not the level that nascar does. In car radio, Love it, Try that with an NFL Huddle or Quarterback. Baseball Pitcher or catcher.

Oh yea I forgot to add that at any given race you can hear and/or see about 20,000 fans stand up when the cars come by and scream at the top of their lungs, JUN-YER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and he is running in 9th place.

Hey Leroy, I'm a Kiwi and have only travelled to 2 Nascar races...both Fontana....easiest to get to, but you have inspired me to think about taking the missus up to the Vegas race. Hmmmmm

One thing that separates attending a NASCAR race from the NFL, MLB, NHL, & NBA is that I can carry my cooler full of my favorite adult beverage along with anything that I'd like to eat and walk right in.

While I realize this may not be true for every NASCAR race, it's most certainly true for every one that I attend.

I should have said excluding Eldora. That is not a carry in track for beer but, you can't beat the prices.

YEP.

NASCAR is the only sport that could be boring and still have me hooked like a struggling bass. The only sport I talk about in between games (races). I really only watch hockey and NASCAR but I'd rather listen to in car audio during a caution than a triple overtime sudden death hockey game just so I don't miss anything. Hockey, I have no problem watching the last 5 minutes .. NASCAR if I miss just a bit I'm wondering what I missed.. I can't stand when Im forced to miss the first hour or so of a race and have to come in not knowing who's on what strategy and all that stuff. I can't really put it into words.. it's not just a sport.. it's a way of life. I only wish I lived in the US and somehow was able to just follow the schedule around the country from track to track. That's my Val Halla lol

I remember my first live race --- the first time all 43 cars came by, I was hooked --- and that was just the pace lap. LOL
There is nothing like feeling the horsepower from your head to your toes.
I celebrated my 50th birthday at Charlotte. The RP driving school was giving ride-alongs --- I took one and knew then why those guys raced.

For all it's foibles and missteps, NASCAR is my chosen sport ----

But... Jacksonville offers two free beers with ticket purchases :D Then again you need to drink to watch that team :(
