Fair and balanced thread.

As others have mentioned it's the sights, sounds, smell and overall atmosphere of attending the races that keeps me coming back.

I also love the drama of a good race. Anything can happen at any time and you never know the outcome until someone takes the checkered flag.

I feed on the drama of what driver has it in for who, or 2 drivers that always seem to come together racing near each other. IMO, the fact that nascar is one of the series that leave the question of who gets what racing room on the track, rather than having stewards or invisible lines, is what makes it special.

Tempers flair, and the show in a show gets started. That stuff has been missing from the respect Cup, but I think it's making a come back. :bounce:

The fans loved the tussle at Phoenix last year. Where the hell was Gordon hiding anyway

I think Jeff is off the hook this year. I doubt MWR needs any more negativity directed their way.

Gotta believe that is a fact. They barely mentioned Mikey at Talladega, he was very well behaved.
Jeff should feel safe

My enthausiam for NASCAR was infectious to a mate of mine...... so much so that earlier this yeah he flew over to Texas to see it in person.

He got seats right on the fence/track and just never stops talking about it. He is fully converted and watches everyweekend. The whole trip for him was (in his words) the best experience that he has ever had. True American hospitality, a great show, great atmosphere and nothing to bitch about at all.

We are talking about coming over next year for race (not sure which one) and trying to get some other mates to come along as well.

The USA hospitality is (for us) the best in the world. We have great friends who we have stayed with and keep in regular contact with and are an integral part of their USA family. Geezuz... just writing this now and I want to be over there.

There is no other sport in the world that I would travel like this for.... although we also try and catch baseball and hockey games as well if possible and depending on seasons. Next trip I would also like to incorporate SEMA.

I am glad that your experience here in the USA was a good one !!!!

Indeed! Many experiences over here arent half as good...like the time there was a creepy guy stalking me, or the time I cracked my head open, or the time...well you get it.

No worries.

Experiences have always been good and the people even better. Have been to the US now about 10 times. Been to 42 states, done all of Rt66, 4 Nascar races, monster trucks, hockey, baseball, Air boats in Florida, seen a shuttle launch, key west, was a part of the 2009 Superbowl 1/2 time show (crowd for The Boss), got Married at Bellagio in Vegas, White Chrismas in Vermont, NYE in Times Square, Saw a shooting in Wall Mart (Mobile ? spelling, Alabama), Caught in a tornado in Texas, Jay Leno Show and made it on TV that night as I was doing a pig rooting motion in the crowd, Driven at Vegas Richard Petty NASCAR (just not fast enough - damn restrictions).

Theres plenty more but it will bore you guys... after all.. its all at your door step.

Anyway, we have always found the US people as a general, great, welcoming, fun and always wanting to offer more for our visit and to kick back with a beer.

Things have slowed for us a little now we have a little girl (2 1/2 yr old), but when she gets a bit older we will be back to share with her what we love about the USA.

In 2009 I went to the Chicagoland Cup race with a couple of "casual NASCAR fan" friends who had never before been to a NASCAR race live and in person.

They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and never ceased to be amazed at what a "really big show" it was as compared to any local short track race that they had been to previously.

What sticks in my mind, however, is when we were on our way from the parking lot to the grandstands, one of the guys stopped to use a port-a-pottie. While he was in there, a stealth bomber became visible in the eastern sky as it headed toward the track to do the pre-race flyover.

Just as my friend emerged from the port-a-pottie, the low-flying, monstrous, bizarre-looking flying machine screamed by overhead.

I'm pretty sure that if the guy hadn't just pinched a loaf, he mighta filled his pants right then and there.

We still kid him about it.

Another thing I love about NASCAR (and racing in general) is that you don't know the outcome until the very end. If a football team is up 41-3 at the start of the 4th qtr, or a baseball team is up 13-2 in the 8th inning, you know they have the game in the bag. But in NASCAR, no matter how big a lead somebody builds up, there's still the possibility they can wreck, cut a tire, or blow an engine before the checkered flag drops.
