Fox sports 1 ratings are behind SPEED

It takes time for a network to build a following. Face it, aside from NASCAR Speed was beyond awful. And why are so many of you still crying about this? Between FS1, FS2 and the ABC/ESPN networks we haven't missed anything (other than a couple of restarts and a Jeff Gordon qual run). Speed is gone. Get over it because FS1 and FS2 aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Besides the live racing, I barely watched Speed.. same thing with FS1 just with more sports.. I don't watch any sports network for talking heads.. as long as every nascar race is on tv, I'm good. If that's not the case at some point, it'll be Nascar's fault anyway.

stick n ballers came out of the woodwork eh? Got my drag set, and my hooks good and sharp.
here is another dismal report

... Jacksonville Jaguars fans, who are extremely frustrated with the constant abuse from ESPN, will start watching FS1. ... Washington Redskins fans will turn to FS1.
What will they be watching, when the league and its teams already have contracts with FOX and CBS? You're not going to see regular season NFL games away from the broadcast channels and the league's own pay network.

As to FS1 vs. ESPN, like someone else already said, the only thing I watch on either one is racing. However, I'm far more likely to at least consider watching ANY of FS1's live sports programming than Speed's 'lifestyle' programs or auto auctions.

Many of us love a great variety of sports. I spend the most time watching NASCAR because it's my favorite, the the length of the season and the abundance of programming. I also watch a ton of Indy Car, F1, golf, MLB college football and basketball, NHL and NFL. I do not care about the network, only that I can see the programming.

ESPN airs highlights on Sundays and numerous football shows during the week with analysis and commentary. And right now, FS1 is doing a better job on that end than ESPN.

Who are you and what did you do with the Andy that we all know and lov, err, ahh, know? I can't keep up with these changes. Just when you were starting to have me hate FS1 you pull this! ;)

For me, if something is on ESPN and I want to watch it..... I do just that. If it's on FS1, I'll watch it there. If it's on, wherever it's on, if I get it, I'll watch it. I couldn't care less.

Same here. I don't give a flying **** which netwok is airing it as long I get to see it :D

I wonder if MAV TV has any plans on going HD? I like the racing on it, but it would be nice to see it in HD.

Ah. I forget about those programs since I only watch the games / races / practices / matches / whatevers themselves. That's the deal I have with my wife: no talking heads. Thanks for the reply.

I haven't heard of it. What racing do they show? Is it worth checking my Dish Network guide to see if it in my package?

It's owned by Lucas Oil. The racing they show is mainly some short track stuff like modifieds, late models, some sprints etc. Plus they show old movies and a few other things. The races are usually tape delayed though, no live stuff.

I think the field is wide open for one of the smaller racing oriented channels to branch out to other cable/dish networks. Just a very few selected races aren't enough coverage..it shows in the ratings..They lost the race fans and are fighting for the stick n ball viewer..not working very well so far.

The thing is, a Rams fan who lives in Jacksonville doesn't get to see the Rams games unless they have DirecTV. So, they'd watch the highlights on SportsCenter and they'd only get to see highlights of the games that are nationally televised and highlights of ESPN's favorite teams or players. So, those fans will start turning on FS1 for highlights. Jaguars fans will turn on SportsCenter and the only mention will be a snarky remark about the Jags not having fans. They'll turn on FS1.

Rome wasn't burnt in a day. Bristol won't burn in a day either - but it is burning.

I was just reading that MAVTV is in hd on dish. that's odd, it's not on Directv. Maybe it will get hd before long.

it isn't even offered on my cable stuff, don't know about other larger cable outfits, but I hope somebody jumps on the opportunity to fill the void, there is money to be made I believe..

I tried to give them a chance on their sportscenter-style and MLB recap shows......

.....but the graphics make the TNT race presentation look like Cinerama. I don't want to watch highlights and have the action be a small portion of the screen while useless stats and THREE channel logos take up space.

At least they still showed practice and qualifying..........

The graphics on Fox Sports Live ARE awful.

nothing on the truck race anywhere, first time in Canada, huge crowd, no practice or qualifying, just the race. :bleh:

Saturday night's ARCA race has been moved to Fox Sports 2. I guess there's a UFC bout scheduled on FS1.

ARCA actually paid to be on SPEED and, thus, paid Fox Sports to be in 80 million homes. When it was announced that SPEED was becoming FS1, ARCA was told they would remain on FS1. When the relaunch happened, they were told their races would remain on FS1. I can't imagine they're very happy about races suddenly getting moved to FS2.

FS1 does a great job with most of their programming but it looks like they're not done flipping motorsports fans the bird.

I still think FS1 is better than ESPN and they offer a lot more motorsports programming - but at the same time, they overpromised and underdelivered.

Like I said before, FS1 should have started later so that their scheduled programming from Speed could have ran through. They're moving the Modified races to Fs2 as well.

Have you read the contract between ARCA and Fox?

It's not my intent to take sides here but I do recall Andy posting last Fall that ARCA pays to be on TV. I don't know if he's correct or not but I do know that he said it. It was in October I believe

That's right. ARCA purchases the airtime on SPEED. I can't remember the exact figure but ARCA's VP told me what it was several years ago and it was in the millions. At the time, I was talking to him because ARCA was not willing to go to VS. The reason they stayed with SPEED and signed a six year extension back in 2011 was because of the quality coverage SPEED provides and because SPEED is available in 80-90 million homes. When SPEED became FS1, ARCA was told their races would remain scheduled where they were on FS1. One race, that had been advertised for a month as being on FS1, has suddenly been dropkicked to FS2. The two other remaining televised races are advertised as being on FS1 but we don't know if those will be dropkicked at this point.

ARCA can't be happy about this at all. The only good news from this is it might be enough motivation for them to ink that deal with NBCSN.

Maybe Arca got paid off.. Not sure how that works but if they have in writing that so many races will be broadcast on this channel.. Can't they sue for breach of contract?

I'm sure they did get paid back. Fox isn't stupid. I don't think ARCA really cares about the money though.

FYI, the Speed Channel guide here in Canada is showing as airing the ARCA race in question.
