Gen 6 car

So what was NASCAR reasoning behind reducing the size of the spoiler? I actually like the old spoiler because they played a part in how a car is set up, but I feel like now with a smaller spoiler, it won't play as big of a part. :(

Man, these cars are sharp!

I like that the GEN6 cars are more easiliy recognizable as to brand. I'm not sure if the flared fenders are going to cause problems or not. Chevy is using a special lightweight paint wrap developed by the military and NASA but don't say anything to Roush.

That's cool info Bobw .How would the flared fenders cause problems?

The Chevy hood definately gives them an aero advantage.
Hey Jack, while you're here, can you tell Brian to stop buying every racing series that exists? Except NHRA, he's welcome to buy them. Maybe Brian can give Graham a new light bulb.

I love the looks of the new car across the board however I'm already getting tired of the 'Gen 6' term. I never heard of Gen anything before and now this is commonplace. FOX, and especially DW and Larry Mac, will have a field day with this newfound term. I was seriously thinking about making this a drinking game during my 2013 Daytona 500 party. I figured that every time that we here the term 'Gen 6' we take a drink. Then I started to think of the health and well being of my friends and realize that alcohol poisoning is not the best term used to describe my 2013 Daytona 500 party. What do you think the over/under is anyway for those two announcers using the term Gen 6 during the 500 broadcast? I'm guessing 50.

I guess it was easier to put a name on it . But I'm already sick of it too. It's also getting to be tiring hearing about how excited everyone is that these cars look like the actual showroom cars . I got that already.

I assume it's from Generation X or "Gen X" from the 1950's. Maybe we could refer to the new car as "Genvi." Suppose that'll catch on ;)

It depends on how we tally them. If we count Larry Mack saying 'Gin 6' it could reach 50 or more. Perhaps 'Gin' could be your drinking word, just to be safe.

I think nascar came up with the Gen designation to sell the idea that they have changed the cars many times, so we don't go thinking the CoT was a competitive failure.

I'm thinking a incidental bump, a no harm, no foul contact could push that flare into a tire cutting it down. I noticed the exhaust is now flush with the body. Wondering if that'll stop tires from being cut down?

50? Way too low. Even if the race runs in only 3 hours, that's less than once every three minutes or so. I'd set the bar at 90 times, and I'm still betting on over.

I'm still kinda on the fence about the looks of the new car, maybe after I see it in action at the shootout i'll have an opinion about it. For right now though, I dunno...

If you mean that our expectations of the new car are way too high due to all of the hype, I'm with you there. I don't think the car can change Nascar racing. Might help bring in a few young fans , might help sell a few cars , but the racing will be the same .
