Hamlin's wins at Darlington both encumbered

If you don't believe the system, then you think that Denny wasn't cheating, right. I mean, which freakin' way do you want it? Make up your mind.
no what I saw in a couple of very brief shots at Darlington was every car I saw and it was about 6 total in two shots and it showed that every one of those car were dog tracking down the straight.

here is what I was talking about, I think most of them were out of tolerance. I think Nascar flips a coin or spins a wheel with car numbers on it to determine which car gets the encumbered. The penalties aren't strong enough IMO.

Hamlin playing the unlucky victim card -- is that part of the "Driver Code"?

truly pathetic...

^ If the car was brought to the track and was illegal back there, it wouldn't get through the multiple laser inspections.

These "problems", which have more to do with binding than anything else, occur curing the event.

Then why bother inspecting them 3 times before the green flag?

I have no idea. Nascar has already once this year made changes to the mounting and the bushings. BTW Eric Jones just spent an hour in jail along with many others doing less time, so it isn't like the inspection process isn't doing some good, but an hour setting on pit road says a lot about cheating before you even get on the track.

I'm confused because the penalty report refers to not having planar mating surfaces that maintain full contact at all times. There was no mention of degrees of skew measured. The illegal non-planar surfaces are discovered by teardown, not by laser measurement. At least that is what I think it means.

The non-planar pieces are intended to create skew under cornering loads, but return to alignment when static. These parts are illegal per se. But pre-race inspection will not find the parts, unless it is disassembled.

Personally, I think Nascar needs to mount laser measuring devices or something similar under the cars during qualifying to measure the rear end flex. This hit or miss deal they have going on isn't working. If it is out make them fix it run more laps for a check until it is right and make them start at the back on the same tires.

That's weak at best, DP. We don't blame the kicker if the QB throws an interception.
I'm not really sure what the NFL has to do with this but in your scenario the entire team pays the price of that interception by loss of possession. Including the kicker. It could be that interception results in the winning score of the game. Who knows? That's your fantasy.

As far as NASCAR goes, I'm really not sure in what world it should be okay to win with a known illegal car. If it is to be allowed to stand than why not do everything that could possibly be done to cheat up the car for a victory?

I think I'll agree to disagree on this one.

I'd guess it was visually obvious post-race and not so before that.

Just a guess.

for sure, case in point. Both Joey and Hamlin racing out of their league in Xfinity cheated like crazy, took two positions, money and points away from the Xfinity regulars and both penalties for doing so were practically worthless.

Happening now: NASCAR informing teams that it will strengthen penalty for this infraction that keeps popping up.

NASCAR has noticed a trend, so the penalty will be raised to stronger punishment (40 points, $75k fine, three-race suspension for CC).

they need an assembly drawing to go with that. That doesn't really show the problem in relation to the other parts involved. That is a manufacturing drawing of a part. they probably don't have one, but something like this would show the problem

Pious Joe Gibbs got caught cheating twice at Darlington --

Cheater Denny "Driver Code" Hamlin drives the cheated-up team car to the crime, yet we're supposed to believe he knew nothing about it.

Joe Gibbs is corrupt and bad for NASCAR.

You were singing a different song when the Fords out ran the Toys.

Don't think so, but it sounded like a good post when you typed it, right? I have always been a fan of innovation, and those who push the boundaries. It's what makes this sport great. I think many have gotten so far away from enjoying this sport that they have lost sight of this.

Teams have been doing this for years....give the teams freedom to mess with the cars more and you might have different teams up front. Where was this whining when fan favorite Bubba Wallace won at Michigan? And if Denny was DQ'd dem cheatin Toyoder of Kyle Busch would be Southern 500 champ ;)

Bingo.

That doesn't describe me. Living in Canada most of my racing is on the tube and I really enjoyed many years of CC's and car chiefs fine tuning the cars a little over the line.
My biggest complaint with Nascar now is how bad the booth is. Tonight's race coverage was so bad, both of them should refuse their pay check. If anything were to dampen my enjoyment of Nascar the TV coverage is the one thing that would make me tune out most races.
