Has Denny Hamlin (at age 38) gained a step?

Denise will choke for sure. He always does. Nothing more than a whiner and pretender.
 
Denny is off the hook right now. If Homestead comes before he wakes up, he could be champion. I also think Denny needs a great car to be at his best. It is good news from a TRD perspective when he is winning.
 
Denny closed out that race methodically. He's on his game. Denny, Truex, and Kyle know how tough it is going to be to beat each other.

Kyle Busch gets it and gave a great interview about "flat out getting our ass kicked, right now, by our teammates."

Kyle indeed got his ass kicked, and finished fourth. This is championship stuff right here.

His car sucked. He finished fourth. This is what champions do. That is what he did. Kyle's teammates don't carry a car like he can. This is how good TRD Toyotas are right now, and I am good with that. Not sure where they are missing, but finishing fourth while you are missing is championship stuff.
 
Kyle started the race 31st and was 2 laps down at one point and ended up finishing 4th and extended his points lead to 39 points over Logano at one of Logano’s best tracks. He’s in position for his 2nd straight regular season title so I think the driver department isn’t what Toyota is worried about. Kyle will be there at the end

I’ve never been a Denny Hamlin fan. But I’ve also never, for the life of me, understood why people want him fired. 35 wins at the Cup level. Two Daytona 500s. Folks act like he’s Paul Menard. It’s absurd.

Second this opinion, dude is right behind Kyle Busch in terms of success for Toyota. Hamlin has been one of the foundations for Toyota, but we forget just how good he can be. This is the most consistency seen from Denny in some time, I joke about Denny all the time. He's calmed down so much and is about as mature as ever.

He even said himself, "I'm not sure if the Denny five or six years ago would have been able to so this."

After his days of picking on Brad K, tearing his ACL two times, and other spazztic episodes... It happens, we all begin to calm down at some point. To think Brad K won a championship before probably still bothers him. We all mature at some point, some faster than others.

The greatest redemption will be winning a championship of his own. I'm not a fan of his, but it wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen.
 
He has aged like a fine wine...and now the critical rounds approach for a playoff championship. I like his chances to advance to Homestead with the round of 8 tracks (Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix) all strong for him. Let's do it Denny!
 
Hamlin may win the thing. He is a great driver.
I just think it is a little early for predictions though, and I would still bet on Truax if I had to pick a favorite.

I think JGR will enter Homestead their three drivers and Harvick will be the other contender.
 
Sorry Denny, I predicted Joey to repeat but second place is still open and we know you can do that.
 
I actually think Denny is starting to mature. If he makes final 4 he may not let anyone into his head this time.
 
A different Denny by his own admission. He won where he once wasn't very good. Now, he goes to the place where he has always been good. Something awesome about a driver who gets out of the car, and says he can't wait to get to the next race.

I think the structure of the championship this time will prevent that. He won't have time to think about it. He will be a contender until he no longer is. The old points system begged him to think. This one doesn't. A good thing for 11 fans.
 
It is a good thing when Denny runs well for MY TRD powered Toyotas. I don't think he carries a car the way Kyle does, so when he is good, typically the car is good. I think OUR cars are very good.
 
Guess it's time for Adam Stevens to go because Hamlin & Truex have been racking up wins lately. :idunno:

If I remember last year, JGR CC's panicked and gave the championship away.
 
I don't think as much as Denny has gained a step as TRD is at the top of it's game right now. Look at the results from this past weekend. All JGR cars in the top 7 and the 95, with supposedly second rate stuff, still finished 15th.

Don't get me wrong Denny is a good wheel man, but I don't think he's gained as much as Toyota has over the competition.
 
Denny did a Denny today. Probably in a must win situation now. At least he's pretty good at Phoenix, and Toyota.
