As much as many here (including me) complain about NASCAR, I still miss it quite a bit when it's gone. It's depressing to think about the next 12 consecutive Sundays with no racing. What do you guys do to fill the time? Football? Yardwork that has been building up for 10 months? Actually talk to your wife/husband?

Withdrawals? It's been two days. I'm still doing okay. That may be debatable to some.

There's no lack of sports for me to watch over the next 100 days or so. Football, hockey and indoor track and field will all be going strong until the season revs back up again.

I agree It will be till after christmas till I am really wanting it back.

It will take a couple of Sundays or so until it kicks in, but I got football to hold me over until then. Lucky for me my teams bye week was this past Sunday so I got games to watch every weekend right now. Then once the playoffs start I watch all of them games, and then the Pro Bowl, and Superbowl. So I am pretty good and only will have about a week or so without any sport to watch so it's all good.

Football and Hockey are my main squeezes and about the middle of July I start getting football fever and for hockey it is around Labor Day. Nascar has such a long season I don't miss it when it is gone but I do look forward to what I consider to be the first race of the year and that is Atlanta. After Memorial Day my interest in Nascar drops and I either skip races or watch them in 45 minutes to an hour. I start to regain interest around the August MIS race and pretty well see most of the races up until Phoenix. I am in the minority but I think Nascar would benefit from having a 6 month season or about 26 races.

I'll be scrambling to finish projects that require my garage before it gets too cold to work out there. Then I'll have to clean the junk room (an annual event) to access my indoor workbench.

Nah, I still have the last two sports car races on DVR, and all 2016 episodes of BattleBots. Oddly, I haven't cared much about football this year. I've watched two complete games and maybe parts of two or three more.

I'm already having withdrawals, I had to get out yesterday and drive around the neighborhood 500 times.
You don't have it bad yet. What about that poor kid at the curb who kept hoping you'd pull over so he could change your tires?

There will be enough "7-time*" shoved down our throats for the next 3 months to keep anyone from having withdraws.

Notice the asterisk ;)

The NFL season typically gives me my fix until February, but with my Packers playing worse than the Browns this year I have no idea what I'll do once the college football season ends soon. This at least gives me an excuse to work overtime and make more money so I can afford to take some days off next summer.

As a relatively new Wisconsinite, I've adopted the Packers as my NFL team. But this season is making it tough to stay interested.

I have the new PS4 NASCAR game, but it still disappointingly pales in comparison to IRacing. I've never invested in a good enough computer to play it.

You should!! We're on Week 11 of Season 4 of 2016. After this season wraps up, we should be getting dirt cars & tracks.

No withdrawals for me, ready for a rest from it. I will be shooting sporting clays, Quail Hunting, Turkey Hunting over Thanksgiving, Squirrel hunting, relaxing etc etc. I want get revved back up for Nascar until February 2017.

I'm pretty bent about the results. Daytona will have me hyped once the new year rolls around, I'm sure. But as soon as the 500 happens and Mike Joy goes, "..and he's locked himself into the chase!!" It'll be back to watching out of habit alone. Lol

The restrictor plate races of late have been extremely boring. Speed week at daytona is too much garbage to watch. I'm just not that much into it as I once was. One plus is that NBC isnt in the booth till July 4th. They need to make some changes to get the fans back and nothing new is on the horizon.

I prefer "locked into the chase" instead of "he has punched his ticket to the chase" spewed regularly the the 3 NBC asshats.

I used to enjoy the Busch Clash and the Twin 125's as well as qualifying as all those things had meaning back then but now are essentially meaningless. Nascar changes a lot of things that don't need to be changed but does things by rote year after year that should be changed.

The Twin 125's/Duels were more fun when there were a few name drivers in danger of not making the field. That hasn't been the case for awhile though.

I think I miss the dirt season more. Obviously in Ohio we can't race pretty much from October-March and even then the weather doesn't really break until middle May.

But once my back heals up from surgery I should be good to play hockey so that's my winter escape

Nope. Plenty of other things to follow in the meantime. Other racing events here and there, NFL, bowl season, college basketball, NBA.

Haven't had withdrawal symptoms now for a long time. Unlike years before the brain came along where come hell or high water I would never miss a televised race, now it's meh. Don't even bother watching it if I bothered to DVR it.

Thanks brain for destroying nascar

Missed it 10 seconds after the Homestead checker....maybe 2 seconds.

I am looking forward to the final caution at the 500 so we can watch them race.

Nope. I'm going to the Thanksgiving Classic this weekend.
I hope you got to eat a lot of turkey and see some good racing yesterday. Some of the heavy hitters come out here to Southern Ca for a midget race on turkey night every year. Last year I went and watched Kyle Larson and Rico Abreu mix it up on turkey night. I was going to go again yesterday but I couldn't decide if I wanted to go to Ventura for the Midgets or Parker AZ for the boat races. I finally decided to stay home and relax and go to a movie instead.:)

As a kid, the layoff period wasn't any longer than it is now, but it felt like a half a year between the last race and Daytona. Now, with college football going half way into January and the super bowl going into February, and the fact that time appears to be moving faster, there will likely be a weekend in january(pro bowl/NHL all star) and the weekend after the super bowl, that I'll miss having the option to watch the race, and cabin fever will set in.

Not really missing it as NASCAR off seasons can be interesting and the season will be here pretty quick. NFL and NCAA football and Basketball will fill the void til Daytona.
