Thought I would introduce myself, my name is Tom. I live outside of Portland Oregon in a town called Sandy, and I'm 55 years old. I grew up in Southern California and some of my earliest memories are my family packing up and heading out to Riverside to camp in the infield by the esses! In the early seventies my parents both raced on a track in Irwindale called Speedway 605. I've also been to a few races at the old Ontario Speedway, one time I swear they had Indy and NASCAR on the same track on the same day and it was called the Datsun Twin 200s. Maybe it was on two different days, can't really remember for sure. I'm a Chevy guy, was a Jeff Gordon fan, wasn't a big Earnhardt fan but respected the hell out of him. And on that note I think it is cool that the three is back, I'm a Raider fan also and the Raiders don't retire numbers they keep them so the present players can pay all message to those who came before them, and I feel the same way about the number 3 and even the 43 still being in use. You'll get to know me better as I start posting and participating in the back and forth with everybody, I look forward to that! I will say that I always try to be respectful and won't say anything on the internet that I wouldn't say to somebody in person. See you all in the racing thread!

Welcome. My son and daughter in law and grandchildren just moved from Lake Oswego so I am a little bit familiar with your part of the country. See you around!

Welcome Cali dude.

Welcome aboard, Tom. Plenty of room here for peeps interested in racing.

Chevy guys always welcome, especially the Gordon type. Eat it Rev!

Who's your guy now?
Don't really have "my guy" but I usually pull for Elliot, JJ, and even Bowman and who ever puts the bumper to KDB! Was a Larson fan( what the hell was he thinking). Don't mind Harvick, Kez( he has grown on me as he has matured), even Logano. Only a few I can't stand- KDB( obviously LOL), Stenhouse, Truex( waa way waa). I like Bubba and have always pulled for the 43, just wish they could be competitive again.

welcome from one Tom to another

I take back everything i said. Except the welcome aboard. Anybody that hates KFB is gonna do fine here.
For me it's KDB, the F is reserved for REAL legends! Like-" Hey see that guy- that's Richard F...... Petty" or " Dale F....... Earnhardt did it again!" or " Bo F........ Jackson ran over the Boz!". I can't use the F for someone who is only a legend in his own mind haha!

This is pretty consistent with a lot of folks here, you're gonna be a natural!

Um...maybe....not sure what the podium is about?
Forum moderators restrict the conversations to the stated racing topics (NASCAR, Open Wheel, etc.) although there's a lot of leeway. The Podium is the forum for political / controversial topics, at least as I understand it. You have to request access from a mod and since I've never done so, I'm working on informed theory.

Come on we ain’t THAT bad downstairs in the basement.

That being said someone bring a mop we got a lot of blood spill thanks.

Where is this so-called podium? I found the stairway to the podium but it said it had zero post and I couldn't access it. Is that it?

Yes. You gotta ask someone who’s staff here and then you can see everything inside it.

Welcome dude.
I'd avoid the Podium if you know what's best for you.

New guy shows up to a racing forum and the first thing some want to talk about is the non-racing subforum. Bizarre.

EDIT: not only does it come up again in another "I'm new" discussion, but it's the same person who brings it up.
