Goodnight sweet prince.

I'd have assumed his first win would have been cucumbered ( ). And even still I'd assume the playoff point he got for that win would be erased? This latest one would count since the correct louvers were used? But if I still understand this correctly, they still only need a win to get in? Or in Willy B's case he's already in. And folks that's what this system is a joke....

Pretty sure that Chase doesn’t lose any points since he wasn’t in the car.Wow. That's absolutely brutal. Does that also put Elliott negative even tho he's not in the car?
The silver lining is the playoff points they lost were the majority of the points that have been given out so far this year. Not many other drivers have any. So yes as long as they continue to perform going forward it shouldn't be too bad imo. Byron is really the one hurt here. He was far clear of the field in that department.HMS f*cked around and now they found out. Now just have to make it to the playoffs where points reset and go from there. The loss of playoff points is going to be a bit difficult imo to make the championship race. Unless Byron continues his tear or Larson goes on one where they can accumulate points in bulk at a quick pace.
I mean Byron at +3 in playoff points 4 races into the year is not bad.HMS f*cked around and now they found out. Now just have to make it to the playoffs where points reset and go from there. YepHow many playoff points is a win? 5?
Yep, they would start the Round of 16 at 1990/1991 points if they don't win any races and still make it in on points.I’m seeing that they do go into the negatives.
Bowman at -10 playoff points and Larson at -9

As an HMS fan, this is justified and fair.Bob Pockrass

NASCAR penalties: NASCAR docks all Hendrick drivers (except Elliott and Berry, who doesn't earn points in Cup) and teams 100 points, 10 playoff points. Hendrick crew chiefs suspended four races, fined $100K. Same penalties for Haley. Denny Hamlin docked 25 points and fined $50K.

That's the one thing I don't get. These parts were taken for practice. They were not presented for qualifying or inspection. Did they intend on using them? Probably. I just don't see how you can get fined for assumed intentI think its a little excessive for parts they did not qualify or race with
Can't cucumber the win if they didn't find it in post race teardownI'd have assumed his first win would have been cucumbered ( ). And even still I'd assume the playoff point he got for that win would be erased? This latest one would count since the correct louvers were used?
I recall MWR went negative after Fuelgate at Daytona on their first race out of the box.So if each team is docked 10 playoff points, how does that work if you're at 0? Surely they don't go into the negative
Then how can you penalize someone for an illegal part in practice for a non impound race? I can't say I'm really an HMS fan but this just makes no sense to me. If feel you need to actually use or intend (bring it to race inspection) to be penalized. Can't cucumber the win if they didn't find it in post race teardown
Okay, then it constituted an illegal practice session, same as if they'd taken the car to another track on an open weekend. That's the one thing I don't get. These parts were taken for practice. I guess thats right. I was making the assumption, probably correctly but no proof, that they had been using them all year. Can't cucumber the win if they didn't find it in post race teardown
Ok then penalize them for that. But I'm pretty sure a car has never had to pass tech for am open practice session before?Okay, then it constituted an illegal practice session, same as if they'd taken the car to another track on an open weekend.
I don't have the answers. I'm also not on the appeals board and not one of the guys Rick needs to convince. Sawyer is judge, jury, and executioner. If I was him, I'd be giving those louvers the stink-eye too. If they weren't going to be used, why were they there? What possible reason is there for them to even exist?Ok then penalize them for that. But I'm pretty sure a car has never had to pass tech for am open practice session before?
Same. May have sharpened some edges or something like that.I would like to know what modifications were made to the parts.
Unfortunately nothing will come out til at least after the appealSame. May have sharpened some edges or something like that.
On his podcast, Hamlin seemed to suggest the official touched them and didn't like what he felt/saw but idk if there is any actual truth to that, if he was told that, or what.
I wonder if it’s possible that could be a blessing in disguise for him.The worst part about this for me as a sideline fan right now is that Jordan Taylor won't get to work with Gustafson at COTA
The 9 team used their lead engineer Tom Gray to fill in for Gustafson at Watkins Glen a couple years ago so I imagine you'll probably see that or maybe the car chiefs step in.I guess the thing that really hasn't been mentioned is I wonder what 4 guys HMS will dig out to sit on the box? I know suspending a crew chief isn't really a penalty anymore but you still need a puppet to sit on the box
