Hey Chevrolet, Why the SS and not the Impala?

Ah sooo bumper san. Confucius say "that ain't no barbeque under there, major dumpisaan "

I have a serious question, since your allegiance is out there for all to see in your avatar, why do you give a sh!t about the SS? Sounds like a troll to me. Just sayin.
Not trollin', just asking a question I was curious about. But, my opinion must have differed from yours, therefore I must be a troll. SMH.

Oh please..don't start that made in the USA crap. They are ASSEMBLED in the USA. Doesn't matter anyway..the profits end up in Japan. Just like showing a toyota Truck pulling the shuttle(down hill BTW) with a Born in the USA sign on the front. propaganda. Money ends up with mitsubitsi or topo ge go or whatever.
Not all the money goes back to Japan, I'm sure that Toyota's 30,000+ U.S. employees don't mail their paychecks to Japan as soon as they receive them. And besides, it's a two-way street: GM sells more cars in China than they do in the U.S., and Ford has had a global presence for decades.

What about Japan?

GM sells more Buicks in china than they do here. Chinese lika big brrrooiks. money comes to the U.S. You do live in the U.S. don't ya Yota?

yep keep telling yourself that.
So your saying that when Toyota sells a car here all the money goes back to Japan, but when a US car company sells a car overseas, the money doesn't come back here? Geez, no wonder the big three got into such bad shape with a business model like that.

Guess you had better read my post again and again until you get it right. Long form answer is called a trade deficit. The big three have unions. They pay workers who retire a retirement $$$. So as time goes on their costs are more to produce a car because of this. Japanese car assemblers here have to sign an agreement to not bring a union in to protect their rites. Union people call them scabs. The jobs pay a decent wage, but very little benefits. Most of foreign plants are located in rural areas where there isn't much work, and the workers work for less. Not to mention third world countries where most of the building is done. You might as well go start a yota thread so that you who drive one can talk about how cheap and great they are instead of worrying what the General is doing with the SS.

:bigfight: . And what do you have against Australia anyway???:D[/quote]

YEH!!!! Come on, what have you got against Australia.:)

I doubt the big three are selling much in Japan, the point I was trying to make is that we sell our cars in other countries too, just as the Japanese, Germans, and South Koreans do here.

And most of the money goes to shareholders anyway. Buy some Toyota stock and the money stays here. GM uses Canadien plants for some of their cars and Ford builds many in Mexico. Executives from US corporations make 250 times the average worker while executives from Japanese corporations make 10 times the average worker and don't have 40 million dollar golden parachutes for when they screw up. Which is American, which is un-american?

Remember when people were freaking out that Toyota was going to come in to Cup and outspend everyone on such massive scale that they'd dominate to a level that would ruin the sport? I laughed. People told me I'd not be laughing when their dire predictions came true. I'm still waiting.

Your so smart.

Funny this is when people get on a message board complaining about Toyota or Honda saying they won't buy an import, they're making their complaints on a computer or smart phone where most of the parts come from Japan, China, or somewhere else in the Far East.

I would encourage folks to check out Holden's web site, the company that will be building the SS. They make some fine vehicles and some very stylish ones too.

There was a series where they did exactly that. Can't remember which it was. Anyone else remember which series they spent like crazy to dominate and practically destroyed the whole thing?

They had success in World Rally before being banned for 12 months for illegal parts. They returned from that but not with any success. They tried Formula 1 and spent a lot of money but they didn't have any success and again was involved with a cheating scandal as Ferrari accused them of espionage. They were ordered to return the information to Ferrari but refused because they had added their own notes. In between World Rally and F1 they also tried Le Mans with little to no success. So yes, there's a little truth that they're known to throw a lot of money in to series and exit after success or failure.

I useto be a Ford man,had 2 MACH 1's a 76 n 78 a 80 n 84 GT,got fed up with "FORD BRIGHTER IDEA",like their latest "LETS BUILD A WHEEL DRIVE CAR FOR OUR NASCAR FANS",boy,,,,,,,,,,,i hate Fords.

I have a Toyota and a Chevrolet, but even if I didn't it wouldn't matter. I can come on here and post about DeSoto if I'm so inclined.

I own 2 toyota's , 1 Ford and one VW. Yotas are the best vehicles I own hands down. Ford is a good one as well and the VW is the only thing Hitler did I liked.

I went to school with a guy who had put a small block Chevy V8 in his Toyota Land Cruiser. It was a really nice ride!

He had TOY-LET painted on the rear... ;)

Toyota has a plant in San Antonio Texas that assembles the Tundra truck. Over 2,900 employees. Texas is a right to work state and I am glad to keep it that way.

yeah, I rest my case, rural area, nothing south of san antone but sagebrush and mexico. Ah soo the born in the USA truck. Of course it is a right to work state, yota wouldn't be there is it wasn't. cheap labor. Some of them even speak english

What's your point, SOI? The Toyota is inferior because it's built in rural America? Or that the folks who live in rural America are beneath your lofty standards? Are you some East Coast highly-edumicated elitist or something?

Would you prefer it if the Toyota trucks were all built in Japan (or Mexico) instead of in rural America? How does the fact that they don't use UAW workers cheapen the people who actually build them - or, for that matter, the brand?

The cost of doing "business" with the United Auto Workers Union in Detroit is what drove Chrysler, FORD and GM to start building cars in Canada and Mexico - where they pay their workers in Canadian Dollars and Pesos - not in good ol' American Greenbacks as they do in rural America!

BTW, the word English should be capitalized when used in a sentence, my friend.

Sagebrush and Mexico, where many Fords are built.
