HMS unveiling 2018 Camaros

I love the 24, 48 just seems basic and the black is usually for the Kobalt schemes, I actually like the 88 a lot and the Napa should be blue and yellow

Heck, it looks like more people showed up for the unveiling than last weeks Dover race.

One thing to keep in mind about the paint schemes. The sponsor have a LOT of say about what the cars look like, regardless of what the team and the artists want. I'm not super excited about the 48, but my guess is that Lowes wanted to push their contractor services program, and that is the colors they wanted for it. It might grow on me. I like the 24, but I was always a MUCH bigger fan of the original fire and flames scheme of red and blue than the black and yellow. I have the DuPont paint codes for the original scheme and intend to some day have a vehicle painted in the blue color. The 9 looks more like his Xfinity car to me, but I'm OK with it. It should be a little easier to see on the track, and it separates this car from the DEI/MWR generation NAPA cars. I have no issue with the 88. Not exciting, but not bad. I just wish all of the HMS cars would have some common unifying theme that made them look like teams cars, like the DEI cars had back in the day. I wish ALL of the numbers were in yellow and in the exact same font, and wish the hell HMS and every other NASCAR team would throw all of those black wheels in the dumpster behind the shop, and either use the fake chrome like MWR or use accenting colors like Penske does.

The 24 is the best looking of the bunch. The 48 looks like it isn't finished.

They should have done "NAPA" diagonally on the sides like the "Coors" on Bill's #9 cars used to be.

That scheme on the 48 is another attempt by Lowes at pushing their commercial customers to start buying online. It's a terrible idea that has failed since the beginning, and will continue to fail IMO. Lowes want to cut staffing but keep the customers, so their idea is to shift attention to the website. It won't work.

Don't be surprised if there are more schemes unveiled later (blue/white Lowes for sure)

The thing is, if you don't maintain a viable online option, you will get killed. I'm in parts/purchasing for a trucking fleet, and just in the last two years we went from basically almost zero online purchases to ten of thousands of dollars worth. Even the bulk of orders for our traditional brick and mortar vendors are being done via the web and not in person or picking up the phone. The problem with Lowes (and Home Depot) is they are just glorified hardware stores for the homeowner. Menards (where available) is a FAR better option for professionals.

Lowes has never had a viable online option; they are way behind in that aspect and have nobody to blame but themselves. Most commercial customers at Lowes are loyal and whether it's price (discounts), familiarity, help, convenience, or simply because it's what they are used to....they have trust in the commercial staff to help them out, and have no interest in replacing that valuable in-store assistance with a website. If you look at the top 50 Lowes stores in the country, they all have one thing in common: very strong numbers in commercial sales. This is why Lowes has cut back literally every other full-time position at the retail (and corporate) level over the past two years, yet ProServices remains untouched. They are hoping many commercial customers will start using the LowesForPros website so that Lowes can justify cutting staff in ProServices. It's simply not going to work.

I order from them online occasionally and it works just as good as any online commercial enterprise.

It "works", yeah, but I can tell you this: if you have a commercial account and need 36 sheets of drywall and you need it delivered tomorrow, you'll pay more for it online and the website won't get it delivered on time.

The Lowes website in general has improved a lot over the years, most notably the interface and search engine, but they have had to spend wayyyyy too much money just to get to this point simply because of their own poor choices and not doing it right from the beginning.

The top of the 48 and the back look like it has hints of blue in it, might be the lighting In the pic and the fact it’s still early for me.

My gf’s sister worked in the Lowe’s Pro Services for the last 3 Years. She hated the the online ordering for the very reason you said, online delivery was always messed up if large quantities were ordered. It was better if contractor just called it in themselves andthe store the contractor usually dealed with pulled order. But they always had to push the online option even as these stores keep going through a “management and employee”restructure that resulted in full time non commercial sales employees losing their jobs

Yep. Nailed it. There's no need for the website; that's what the ProServices team is there for. A website can't replace that. :D

tol·er·ance
ˈtäl(ə)rəns/
noun
  1. 1.
the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with.
You're welcome.

I think the 9 NAPA, and the 24 Axalta car will be the easiest to spot in a pack. Used to be, I don't know about now, sponsors would choose schemes that would make the car stick out on the track if possible.

Guess my post got deleted I hate Liberty cuz they messed up our perfect season at Coastal Carolina wasn't meaning to be ultra hateful it was one of the nastiest Sports rivalries in FCS football we went D1 still the 24 car is sacrilege to me

The thing is, just because it works bad today, doesn't mean they can't improve it, and the truth is we are dealing with a generation where many won't even consider buying from you if they can't do it online. It may take a while longer to filter down to the building contractors, but it's becoming more of that type of world every day. I'm an old school; guy myself that has had to get with the program or get run over. I didn't even OWN a computer until 2000. As for Lowes, despite being a Jimmie Johnson fan, I don't even like Lowes and seldom shop there, but I understand what they are trying to do. Whether it works or not is another story.

They can definitely improve it, and I'm sure some folks who like to buy Liquid Nails and Ram Board once a week might choose the online method. But no matter how good that website gets, it will never replace the role of an actual person who can do things that a website can't. I get what you're saying, but believe me when I say that the frequent commercial customer at Lowes has zero interest in shopping for their commercial products on a website. Online shopping is a lot more convenient in most cases, but NOT in this case, for a multitude of reasons. I understand what Lowes is trying to do; if more commercial customers use the website, they can justify cutting more jobs. I just don't see the LowesForPros website becoming that popular of a choice. If you were a Lowes commercial customer, or a former commercial sales specialist at Lowes, I think you would understand.

I'll try and stay on topic for a change.......it would be cool to see a #48 Camaro painted like this......

Did Sam Bass create the 24 scheme for 2018 I thought I read that

Actually, my employer IS a Lowes commercial customer, but we only use it for odds and ends since they are only two miles from our shop, where as there are Menards about 8 miles away in two different directions, one of which I pass by every day on my way to work. We DO use the website to see what is available, but to be honest, my co-worker in my department usually does that, so I can't speak with any authority on it.

Why is the 24, and 48, so black? That always made it harder to find the car on the track. Don't care for black cars, especially show cars.

Notice those panels on each side of the car? That's where Toyota's downforce is coming from and Chevy saw that and acted accordingly. I really look for Ford to struggle next year unless they redesign the nose. I do think the Ford nose gives them the advantage at Talledega and Daytona, but that's it.

Youre telling me you cant find the car with bright red, yellow, green and blue flames on TV?

Hey everyone - long time lurker that decided to finally join the board.

Does anyone know when we'll see other teams start unveiling 2018 sponsorship and new paint schemes? I'm assuming most won't until the 2017 season is over but with HMS announcing I thought others might follow suit.

You should begin seeing them trickle in towards the end of the year and early next year.

That 24 paint scheme is stunning. If they run that scheme at MIS next year I'll go just so I can see it in person.

Doesn't bother you at all? I'm actually surprised as you've been pretty vocal in terms of not having a rooting interest since Gordon, etc. Figured you'd find that color number and paint scheme to be off limits.

Now that I know the "black" is actually blue, I can't wait to see this car out in the daylight. The first generation fire and flames scheme is probably my all time favorite.

Welcome! Jayski has already started his 2018 paint scheme page. Besides HMS, only the #21 and #31 are up so far. (Heck, it's not like the #21 is going to change :p )
