Homestead RACE thread

I'll say this last thing about JR.

I'm liking him more and more every week. If he looks like that next season, he can win a championship. He looks hungry and is getting better and better. I like that.

BK, Logano, Busch Bros... All of these guys tasted blood, they all want more.

Get this mfer off the stage. "Sprint Racer"...

Look, the Sprint guy actually said the name of the series correctly. Remember the guy when he congratulated Tony Stewart? "Sprint Motor Cup Speed Series" or something like that, lol

Here's what he just took a picture of

Like I said, Junior couldn't win a race but at least he gets 5th in the standings and getting a premium seat at the banquet. :)

Sigh. I really wanted him to get that W tonight. He always seems so close to it and yet so far from it. His only mistake tonight was sliding up in front of Kenseth too early. Had he waited one more lap he would probably have had him cleared. Oh well.

At least I got to see Brad win one this year. Hopefully he gets it together and makes the Chase next year.

...and 16 seconds to talk :D

"I'd just like to say my Dad got me here (applause) and my sponsors...Mountain Dew and....(cut)..."

Thank you Dale, now for our fourth finisher....

I think that Jr may be the most underrated driver in Nascar. Everyone says that he wouldn't be there if it wasn't for his father. Maybe so, but Jr has taken advantage and has improved so that he is actually one of the best drivers in Nascar. I believe he will be one of the favorites next year along with 6-time.

Well, it's been a pleasure chatting with all of you during the races this season. I look forward to more spirited banter in the 2014 season!
Heck yeah man, these discussion threads make the races so much more enjoyable than they already are.

Yessir. Like Larry Mac said once (paraphrasing), you give Junior something to fight with and he'll fight for you.

He ain't the best driver in the world but he and that 88 team have proven over the last two or three years that they are definitely capable of winning races.

I never thought he was the most underrated driver in Nascar. I think his dad dying so soon twisted him up pretty bad and then the problems with his step mom prolonged the problem. I think this is the first year since he hit bottom and has come to terms with all that. This year he isn't missing his pit, or speeding on pit row, or yelling and screaming at the crew like in years past. I think he has put most of it behind him and is focusing more on racing.

Yea, even I have to admit that Jr. has improved as a driver this year, and who knows, maybe one day he'll live up to the Earnhardt name.

Favorites next year IMO
1. Jimmie
2. Denny Hamlin
3. Jr
4. Rowdy
5. Edwards

I think losing his dad change the way he drove, not taking the chances or driving as hard as he should have, knowing what could happen.

And so my Netflix binge watching and other actitivities begins.

Be back around January or so. Late.

Well that was a fun season, first time I've talked to other people online about NASCAR or racing in general as I only recently discovered these forums back in May even though I have watched racing and raced myself since 1979, I'll be back next February for fulltime attendance hopefully.

No Kenseth?
The runner up has had a miserable following year for quite some time now; should be interesting to see (unless you wanna count Jimmie as a runner up last year, since the title fight was basically between him and Kes until the last two races where Bowyer was able to inch by for second).

I thought he really was a top-tier driver until he got fined for swearing after that 'Dega 04 win. That really seemed to rattle him for some reason and he never seemed to be the same since.

Gentlemen, it's been a privilege flying with you.

Doubt it was that. I think it was the fiery crash he had in a sports car race that same year. He suffered serious burns and almost lost his life there.

Well didn't Sr. have the same problem with his dad, Ralph Earnhardt?
Not really. When Ralph died, DE was 21 or 22. Ralph never really raced in the big leagues, and only on dirt.

DE raced to survive, so he was having to run harder and rougher. I've heard Pops Eury say that
the first time he saw Junior drive, it was Ralph's style all over again.

I don't know how accurate the movie "3" was, but it seems like Ralph had a "cleaner" racing style than his son did.
