Didn’t really need the right shoe. He wasn’t using it much toward the end of his career. ;)

In Dale's defense, his last season was pretty darn good. I seem to recall that he had some kind of surgery before the 2000 season started and said he felt the best he had since before that wreck at Talladega (1996?) that damn near killed him.

He was damn near 50. Clearly at the end of his career and likely would not have ever won another Championship. My response was about the pic of him presumably doing something with his right foot.

You said he wasn't using his right foot much at the end of his career. He won what, 3 races and finished a fairly close 2nd in points to Bobby Labonte in his last season? I have no idea if he ever would have won another title title or not. The odds would be against it, but I wouldn't want to bet against a healthy motivated Dale Earnhardt either. I know if you look at the interviews he gave just before he died, he seemed really at peace with himself and VERY motivated. His driving in the Rolex 24 that January was brilliant, and I'm not even an Earnhardt fan...

You’re entitled to your opinion. He died where he wanted to be.
