I remember them all. Elliott was in his own zip code for most of the 1985 season. I think he made up about two laps in that race under the green without any drafting help.

Bill was leading then blew up. Bobby Allison held off Dale Earnhardt for the win. Dale made his move down the back stretch on the last lap on Bobby and then squeezed Bobby up High against the wall but Bobby never lifted and passed him back off of 4 and won. Fantastic race, Earnhardt after the race in his interview was asked why he couldnt make the pass and he said " you know that was Bobby Allison right? "

There was cable service as close as a quarter mile from us in three directions, but because the one mile section of road where we live only had a handful of house on it, Comcast wouldn't bring it done our road. Finally enough of our far wealthier neighbors complained enough and here came the cable.

Cale turned 201 on his first lap and stop watches indicated lap two might be about 203 when the Hardees Chevrolet became an airplane. Ricky Rudd in the RCR Piedmont Chevy inherited the pole by default. Cale won the race in his backup Pontiac LeMans, which may have been the same car Benny Parsons did 200 at Talladega the year before.

I believe his back up was a show car that had on display over at a Hardees. Usually when they hit show car status they are put out to pasture, obsolete. Now its a museum piece with a Daytona 500 win. Pretty incredible

Amazing how bad the video was back in 86, looks like it was rerouted from the moon
