...without winning the race on Sunday, that means he will have won one race all season. So what will Brian France do about the Chase then? The whole thing was supposed to be about winning races. Edwards could shoot a hole in that plan.

The higher win bonus is what kept Stewart so close. Those wins made up for 16 positions on the track over 9 races.

Honestly, the new point system doesn't work well with The Chase. It harshly punishes DNF more than it should. I think they either need to do another revamp of the points system so that it actually can work within The Chase format, or just scrap The Chase all together.

With the new points system, it's easier to lose spots than it is to gain spots.

They could make the win bonus bigger, then we could see a guy run bad for 5 races, run decent in 2 and win 3 to take the championship. That would be lamer than what we have.

NASCAR loves the simplicity of 1 spot, 1 point and the small points gaps they get out of it.

Does it really matter how Nascar sets up the chase, there will always be those who will not be happy with it , regardless. The main thing is that they all started with equal oppurtinty to win it.

I still think people would pay to see a touring racing series based around the Street Stock class. *nods*

nothing. you can't keep changing the format. it makes you look incompetent.

Go Carl! :beerbang:

(A Carl Edwards one win championship would be a black eye for Brian France)

What's not right about it?

They gave an opportunity for race winners to jump in front the 11th and 12th place drivers in points and make the chase. Since no driver made the chase on wins, it simply penalized the drivers 11th and 12th in points by taking away their win bonus.

How is that making wins mean more?

Sorry...I like the chase the way it is..I hope they keep it

A win in the regular season is appreciated because of it's insurance factor.

A win in the chase is worth 3 extra points.

If you really want a win to be worth something special, it should be worth five extra points or maybe even more.

As much griping as there is, some of y'all mights as well pick a different sport...

If Carl Edwards wins the Championship, we will all be subjected to a stream of never-ending bullchit - from both of his two faces!

Please Tony, For the Love of Dog! Don't let Eddie Haskell Win!!!

So 20 max

If you say so

Not really. If one of those 5 or 6 step up their game, they will bump someone else from the ranks of good enough. If you look at season points, 12 make it and 2 or 3 can honestly say something out of their control kept them out.
