Definitely my thoughts about Cup races in August and early-September. How many times was the Bristol Night Race pre-empted on basically half the country's ABC affiliates for preseason football or coverage of a hurricane? Same with NBC. Never a problem when it was on TNT.Sounds like the local affiliate. I 'member the Good Ol' Days when locals would pre-empt muh Busch races for the local college 'ball team.
Why I prefer races to be on cable networks over broadcast. Much less chance the race will get overridden for spring baseball or pre-season football.

You saw what they did with the windshield wipers didn't you?NASCAR is handling this poorly. Instead of a penalty, legalize it and treat it like IndyCar's Push-to-Pass. Each driver gets a defined amount of hand-in-window time for each race.
Seriously, can a guy hold his fingers out the window against a 180mph wind for enough time to make a competitive difference? Do they have to start strength training for their left wrist and elbow?
Then start with these....stupid rule......The drivers have been holding their hand up between the A-pillar and the window net for qualifying for years. Putting the webbing between your fingers just increases the surface area of the glove to limit air flow into the car. Ingenious, but if the rule says you can't modify the glove, well then you can't do that.

i 100 % agree,i spent allot of money getting things sfi recertified over 40 years,but i know it was for my own good.they really should have known better.I realize that a lot of fans don’t understand why racing organizations are so strict about their rule about modifications to any part or clothing article that is mandated to have an SFI sticker. One of my jobs was to oversee all of our safety equipment and make sure all of our certs were up to date every year. At the end of the racing season I would send everything that needed to be certified out to be inspected and recerted. Trust me when I say there is a lot of things that need a certification when it comes to racing. Rev was probably right that the webbing modification didn’t make the glove unsafe. But the reason NASCAR, NHRA or any of the other racing organizations take any kind of modifications so serious is because any kind of modification renders the SFI sticker invalid and if anyone ever was seriously injured or killed there could be some very large lawsuits filed because they over looked said modifications. That wouldn’t be very good for any racing organization publicity wise or financially.
I will probably forget a few things because It has been a few years since I have had to do that and I don’t have my laptop anymore that I kept track of items and dates and SFI numbers. But just for sheets and giggles I will see how much I can remember off of the top of my head for a nitro Funnycar. Driver items that needed an SFI sticker was helmet-head sock-Hans device-fire suite-gloves-shoes. All the fc bodies which we usually started the season with a half dozen ready to go. All of the chassis had to be certified. Front and rear wheels. Parachutes-clutch can and clutch pressure plate-flywheel-since a nitro car is direct drive one to one with no transmission we didn’t need a transmission blanket but the alcohol cars did. The driver safety restraints and harness-blower manifold and burst panels-blower restraint and blanket. The titanium valve covers and oil pan blanket. All the fire bottles. You also needed to test and make sure the Lahie device was working properly because if you made a pass and it wasn’t there would be a pretty severe fine. I may have misspelled Lahie though. That depends on what material was used to make the webbing, and to sew it in with, and whether the process of sewing compromised the original material and / or webbing.So ****** stupid to bust Penske on this. Sawyer sounds like an idiot. It was not a safety issue. It would never be a safety issue. STFU.
