IndyCar: 2020 Harvest Grand Prix

Wire-to-wire an excellent race, definitely the best racing IndyCar has had here in the dry. First and back thirds were especially racy.

Not sure what the laps led tally looked like but hopefully Josef the two bonus points for leading the most laps.

Watched it on DVR last night. That was consistently good stuff all the way through. Props to NBC for finding good battles after Josef checked out; why don't they do that as effectively when they cover other series?

Maybe this layout just races better when it's cold?

Sounds like it, plus the race was long enough that everyone had to stop three times no matter what so there wasn’t fuel saving going on. Today is 10 laps shorter so it’ll probably be a straightforward two-stop race with some fuel saving so we’ll see if that changes things. They use more fuel when it’s cooler so it could be tighter than it otherwise would be.

The booth has an uncanny ability to foreshadow and be wrong. They speculated Power wouldn't be able to lap Karam because passing is so hard, and that he may sit back or pit to avoid it. Then he makes the pass easily about 10 seconds later.

Dixon rallying, at least to the point where he won't lose as much of his points lead.

No cautions either day?

No cautions, surprisingly.

This track is pretty damn good. Looks good too for being inside an oval. Made a lot of people happy in 2020 between Indycar and that awesome Xfinity race.

Newgarden seemed to have a golden opportunity here, but he's not moving forward and Dixon is now.

Time to burn some P2P on this final stint. I think everyone up front should be safe by a couple of laps.

Leigh, we don't care that they play the drums. Call the race.

Pleasant surprise of a weekend here. I don’t think Herta or Power had much, if anything, left in the tires at the end there.

Dixon scored just enough points that he’ll have to finish outside of the Top 10 at St. Pete for Newgarden to have a chance.

It's kind of sad watching Dixon barely scraping top tens to hold on to a lead that was 100 points just 4 races ago.

It'd be funny and ironic if he gets Montoya'd in the last race.
