Wickens was one of those talented drivers coming up through the American ladder system when the merger happened, and he ended up going to Europe. A lot of guys either did that or went to the ALMS or Grand-Am. He has a strong record in open wheel feeder series and DTM is (was?) a legitimate national series with a lot of talent and quick cars.
