Okay, note the discussion thread and the post number. I've had it with this subject.

If the race track currently known as Rockingham Speedway, on US-1 north of Rockingham, NC, USA, has a race date on one of the three NASCAR national touring series schedule (Cup, Xfinity or equivalent name, or Trucks) before or during the 2023 season, I will buy an admission ticket for every Racing Forums member who can get there.

Now, nobody needs to post anything about The Rock again until you can post the date the ticket office opens.
Cool, we can have our own little section. I'm in.

Hate to give rumors and innuendo the time of day, but it was jarring to see about Homestead. A great track that is very slanted to the driver skill side, fun track to watch drivers ply their craft. It’d be a mistake to lose it
I agree! It's a simple, no frills 1.5 mile high speed banked oval. Always liked the racing there. To be fair, the nostalgia of "Ole Atlanta" helped to increase my enjoyment. I don't think my dad has ever gotten over Bill Elliott's blown tire on the last lap of the 2003 season finale.

Me too! In lieu of this news I'll be hosting a golf outing at nearby Pinehurst that Friday for those who are interested. I already claimed cart #27. I'll make sure she's "tuned up". Navigating those cart paths through the tall pines of the Sand Hills is like making it through the Ardennes during a 1950s Belgium Grand Prix. Then there's the golf....;)

Uh, no. Y'all are responsible for getting your butts to the track property. Food and drink are y'all problems too.

I don't think I left myself any room to wiggle out of this, but I did forget one thing:

Anyone who posts anything about a race at Rockingham, other than a NASCAR-announced scheduled race date, doesn't get a ticket.

No rumors, no highway work, no parking lot being groomed, nothing about that outfit that screwed up that rock show. Nothing, zero, zip, nada, nyetski. This is all about my being sick of people saying 'something is going to happen soon'.

If they are still aiming to get a stadium course or two added for 2021 that would probably be the biggest holdup as far as negotiations and approvals that could delay the release. Not sure how quickly they want to get around to those types of circuits though.
If said "stadium" isn't this,
it's going to be an expensive mess trying to install a temporary slab of asphalt around any other field... unless we're racing at Lambeau or Gillette stadium I don't see the point.

I think the term 'stadium' refers to a street course that is based on the roads and parking lots around a stadium, not actually in one. I don't know what the supposed advantages of using the environs are.

Yeah I haven't heard a thing about stadium racing, way too small for a Nascar cup race. I have heard about street races in cities, and I would say Detroit with Penske's influence makes more sense than a tiny stadium track. The haulers alone would fill up the parking lot.

BGS can fit 4-5 classes worth of haulers for one night of racing. I doubt 38 cup stackers would be a deal-breaker...

Correct. “Stadium” course as in the ones mentioned by Adam Stern last month - around Soldier Field, LA Coliseum.

Yeah Homesteads mayor threw a lot of water on that fire.

I'm surprised anyone can call that a racetrack. It's a demo derby that goes in a circle.

Fingers crossed! The leadership in motorsports right now is excellent. Having Penkse and the current NASCAR heads traversing these muddy waters is beyond a blessing. I've been critical (more than some, less than others) of NASCAR in the past with certain things. The root of my problem was they were gutness in too many areas, especially when it came to TV. They couldn't say no when it needed to be said. These guys respect the things that made racing great.

The financial issues are clearly a concern for the teams. Hopefully they can work something out, hunker down and we'll be rolling in a little bit longer than a college winter break.

I live 6 miles from the Rock as the crow flies, if they bring a race back RF members can pitch a tent in my yard and we can have one hell of a party.. BYOB and bring something for the grill is the price of admission.

A short track somewhere
We're not going racing in early May. Not a chance in Hell. Unless the government just gives up trying to contain the virus.
That's actually starting to look somewhat likely. There's a hard push from the people who influence President Trump the most to let this thing run its course, and the president says he wants the country to reopen on Easter.

This will be a state-by-state thing, but I'm pretty sure most sports leagues will follow New York and Maryland's lead since Andrew Cuomo and Larry Hogan have served as de-facto acting president and vice president here lately.

Meh I think if anything Mike Dewine in Ohio has spearheaded this.

Honestly I’m not sure what the president has to do with anything here, America is a nation of states and the governors have the right to make those decisions.

I think near Memorial Day we will return to normal, but it’s going to be a long road to hoe over these next couple months as we grapple this. It’s just so so contagious

NASCAR Literally Forever- "no we can't make drastic schedule changes bc it ***** with the fans and the tracks planning as these are massive events that need a year's notice and multi-year contracts"

Indycar, IMSA, F1, soon NASCAR- "yeah we're gonna change our entire calendars and move events around the globe with 6-12 weeks notice"

I know, I know, I know...unique circumstances...but still I find it entertaining they say how "locked" things are but are now moving literally everything. It's good though- I was expecting more straight-up cancellations rather than postponements.

The crisis has freed them from the network constraints, at least for this season.

yep the mainly focused stick n ball networks can only talk about nothing happening for so long. They are hurting something terrible for content so iRacing if they are astute business people have a sellers market. I think there will be a log jam when it is safe to have sporting events with all of them needing a time slot at once.

Looks like more NASCAR / IndyCar double headers are being discussed.

Stolen from @FLRacingFan 's post over in the Open Wheel forum. Check the last paragraph.

I expect a much better relation between the two now that Penske is the CEO.

I wonder which track they'll choose to return at? May still seems heavily optimistic to me, maybe by Memorial Day weekend who knows. I'm guessing they will be forced to go out of sequence, and double up on some tracks they hit twice. The Florida governor is the only one I've heard of that is open to the idea of hosting fan-free sporting events, maybe Arizona. Starting off at Daytona again I think would be real cool, and get us all riled up around here again, morale booster.

The PGA Tour is trying to start up in the second week of June. As much as I want to watch the Coca Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend for some sake of normalcy, I think the June time frame is realistic at this point considering things might change again in terms of the Virus peaking and all that. It's so tough to deal with as it seems like a fluid situation, but I am of the theory that the sooner the better. But thats all contingent on testing, vaccine and logistics of how or what people will be behind the scenes running the race. This is all pretty depressing I might add, 2020 I'd like to run away from.
