Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

You are being sarcastic right?;)

I am being sarcastic and I doubt that anyone truly believes there is no such thing as a bad race, all commercials on Nascar broadcasts are sold and the racing has never been better than today. Of course you never know as some people have unique views.

The average temperature at Kansas is in the 60's to 70's wtf is the problem?
Kansas City get an October snowstorm like once every 4 years. I'm sorry but late October in the heartland isn't exactly ideal. Thats the thing with the weather who knows. Replace it with Cota!

no it doesn't

There were going to be no changes to the schedule unless one track got dropped for another owned by the same company. However, moving some dates around would be nice. And allowing different tracks to host playoff races would be great too.

I'm fine with the current schedule. Sure, a few more short tracks would be nice (at the expense of 1.5 mile tracks, except Texas), but we have a decent diversity of tracks now.

In my opinion, of course.

Nah, Avondale is a suburb of Phoenix. You can call it Phoenix.

Avondale doesn't have a large urban core or skyline.
Call it Avondale Raceway and people would question where that is at, when PIR was built, Avondale was still primary a farm town.

Lets stick with it calling PIR , forget that Avondale stuff:D

Phoenix would be awesome to be the finale! I have no problem with Homestead though, we’ve seen some great finishes there lately

Harvick makes more sense

Kevin Harvick wants NASCAR to rotate tracks for playoffs, championship race

"If you put six or eight race tracks in the championship race mix and mix that up every year and you mix those other nine [playoff] races up with different race tracks every year, every year you're going to have a built-in conversation," Harvick said.

"That's the part that we're missing, the conversation piece to really change things up. ... It's not fair to have [the championship] in one market.

"You have a championship race here, and you bring people that haven't been here before, they're going to come to the next one when it's on its regular date," Harvick said. "We have to build this enthusiasm in every race market.
"When you take that championship race and that all-star race and have the playoff races in virtually the same spot every year, you don't build that intrigue and enthusiasm that you would build if you move it around."

From a fan interest standpoint having the finale at Talladega or Daytona would be great as those are tracks that draw large crowds and some interest. Also you would have the 4 lottery cars in a lottery race and at a plate track anything can happen at anytime so that would add another element of excitement and tension.
It doesn't matter to me if they change the race dates around or have the finale at different tracks but I don't think it is going to move the needle in adding interest. The fans are going to watch regardless of where the races are held and the non fans are not going to start watching because the order of the races have changed or the finale is in Phoenix instead Homestead.
Fair in racing? Balderdash.
Harvick isn't talking about racing he is talking about cities in which the races are held so there is a big difference.

Thank you for the clarification but I understood what Harvick said and why he said it. The track (city) you're racing at is as much a part of the racing as the tires and car.

Many posters here have thought it would be a good idea to move the all star race around, some have mentioned moving the championship around also BTW

I would love to see Texas, Phoenix or AutoClub for a final race. Any of those tracks would be stellar for a championship

It matters not where the first stage and a half or so is broadcast from ... am I reading you correctly?

I do think this change Nascar made is a good one.

Harvick said he likes the changes that are starting this year, with Indianapolis as the final race of the regular season, and then Las Vegas, Richmond and the Charlotte road course making up the first round of the playoffs instead of Chicagoland (now in July), New Hampshire (race moved to Las Vegas) and Dover (now the opening race of the second round).

The roval race will be interesting and one I am looking forward to seeing as I hope it is a real positive for the drivers and fans. Moving around the races is just 6 of one and a half dozen of the other, IMO but we will see if expected lower temps do anything for Brickyard attendance.

I enjoyed it as a fan in 2016 when the ARCA race ran beforehand. I should've gone to the dirt track instead this year.
Bummer you missed the dirt action that night but you can pre order reserved seating AND reserved camping for next year at volusiaspeedway.com

I was there the two nights prior and saw some great racing. I plan on being there again next year.

I have a new book coming out next week. It will answer all of your questions about race tracks, and show you how they are run profitably. For a mere twenty US dollars you too can be the next Bruton Smith. Look for it everywhere.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I mean you have lost half of your fan base in 4 years and how do you react? Doing "more of the same" ? Unbelievable...

NASCAR has become Stale and boring! it's a simple as that. Bring back some excitement for God's sake, Go back to your roots ! Let 'em drive at Toledo Speedway, at Bowman-Gray stadium, put some real short track in the schedule. Add a couple of dirt tracks to begin with (Eldora and Knoxville would be perfect). Do something.

Really when was the last you time you got really excited for a Nascar race? when there was anticipation? When was the last time you saw some real "bump&run"?
I really can' t believe that the 2019 schedule is going to be the same...I can't believe this.

Well I am pretty excited about the upcoming Talladega race and did you miss Bristol this year...Bump&run showed up there. His brother Jacque Debris has been MIA all year.
Now I will agree with you in that change would be good. Example being the first truck race at Eldora, that was probably one of the most anticipated races for me.

Dover International Speedway (and its two annual Cup races) will become the last surviving asset of its parent company after the Dover Downs hotel and casino is flipped to a Rhode Island casino operator. Hmmm. This does not bode well for the longevity of Dover Motorsports Inc, in my opinion. Perhaps Nascar will purchase the sanction agreements? Or ISC or SMI?
