what strategy do they use at charlotte & dega ?

oughta be 2 hellava excitin chase races ! 2 excitin weeks !

Trouble yes but all three COULD win at Charoltte given their performances/past history at the track this year and I bet other chasers will have problems. At Dega, if Kez doesn't win Charoltte, I fully expect Joey to push Brad to the win.

Dega being the crap shoot it is, I could see JJ, JR and Brad all make it to the final 8.

Any of those drivers can run top-10 at Charlotte. However, so can all of those drivers ahead of them and there can be only one winner. I don't believe that all 4 will make the next round.

McMurray, Larson and Bowyer are possible spoilers here as well.

Talladega will probably be a mess and Logano may be the only driver safe there.

They need others to have troubles... but really... I thin the bottom driver is only 12 points out of 8th... they all have a shot... but need to rely on the misfortune of others at this points... only 1 of the bottom 4 after chicago moved on to the next round.

I'd be nervous if I was any of them. Another bad break at Charlotte and you gotta put all your eggs in the Talladega basket. They still gotta beat out the other 9 drivers ahead of them.

Goodyear screwed up big time. I noticed they hired a new official excuse maker for the event, so they probably expected trouble. Tires were blowing in the first half of runs, and I think that's a quality control issue.

I'm nervous for them! If one of them doesn't win Charlotte I can't imagine how much pressure will be on them at crappydega

We will see how it plays out @ Charlotte...If Dega becomes all or nothing for HMS I could see Rick trying to manipulate the race with several additional cars entered being sponsored by "Hendrickcars.com"

Really? How many tires blew? like 4? All under different circumstances... I dont think its a Goodyear issue as much as a setup/camber issue.

@bobpockrass

HMS approach to tests didn't include Charlotte. They've tested Loudon & Martinsville, have tests set for Phoenix, Homestead.

3 of 12 championship contenders had tires fail, including the most popular driver in the sport. The tires had Harvick so jumpy he came in to get a new set. That's why it's so bad.

Kez said the tires are Russian roulette, and it was his turn. Jr. said he must have gotten a re-cap tire.

Funny how they tend to complain when they have problems. These teams push these tires and setups to the limit. They wouldn't be doing their job otherwise. The tire issues were probably a result of that.

Both recent Cup champions in points trouble 48,2, the fan favorite 88, along with many young girls pin up driver in jeopardy 5? exciting? I don't think there are many other driver combinations that could concern more fans than those four.

these next 2 races are gonna be great !

hahaha yeah I don't think I heard much of that last Sunday either. Shocked silence was more like it.

I could see Jimmie, Dale, and Brad being pretty screwed at this point. They all could get absolutely ****** at Talladega so a win this Saturday is crucial. The one good thing the 48 team has going for it is that they won the 600 earlier this year, so hopefully they unload with a good setup at Charlotte. Jimmie has been known to crack under pressure, though (see fall Phoenix race, 2012).

I very much hope that you are right, anybody not sitting pretty when they get to Talladega might be in the crapper though, cant wait

When the tread separates from the tire, it's a QC issue.

Never heard the "goodyear representative" mention quality control, I bet they arent even allowed to say those words. You often hear drivers say "I got a bad set of tires" but they really never say what was bad about them

A solid top 10 will do the trick.

Who actually thinks Newman will be advancing? Carl Edwards won't either.

betcha even qualifyin / practice ......at charlotte .....gets more attention from hms & penske teams !
and lots more tv eyeballs !

don't be so sure !
neither of them got that "unnecessary pressure " goin on ! ha!

me, Ryan and Richard, that i know of.

He is sitting pretty this week. I have been keeping an eye on him this chase, he is driving differently. Doughtery said he is harder to pass then a kidney stone, and that is his reputation, but I am not seeing it. I have seen him move aside and let cars go by, come out of the pit and drive up to a better position. He is big picture racing, unlike Reck's prediction, I think he will make it to the next round.

Of course Pudge, you should. You'd be remiss if you didn't. ;)
Newman ain't bad at Charlotte....1 DNF at road course, (thanks Biffle) so he finishes races.....Kansas results...did i mention he runs good at Charlotte....i really do think he's in, and i don't think it's just wishful...but i can understand how you don't.

Yeah based on this year's perfomance I dont. Not because I dont think he could.

Its not a prediction either.

I feel the same about Edwards and he's my second favorite driver.

I think Kahne will not recover out of the hole he has dug. The rest in the hole, I think Dega will settle it.
