I feel bad for him, he is a VERY likable guy. I'd rather see him take over the Furniture Row #78 car, than Montoya, but only if he could do something for them. I'd love to see him have some success somewhere, even if it wasn't wins, just be upfront competing.

What do you all think about his situation?

Jeff is a good guy and was once a solid driver. Now days he might be happiest serving Nascar in some other capacity---I think he has expressed that desire before.

I wish him luck.

Him being likeable doesnt equate into being competitive. You gotta put up the numbers to keep your job, no matter your profession. Especially in NASCAR it's survival of the fittest. He was mediocre for a good while and is paying the price, its time to let someone else try for a few years. I'd rather see him go into the booth instead of into another bucket seat.

That's a hellava big if that you've entered into the equation.

I think he should retire and get behind a microphone.

The man is brilliant.

You guys are right. It would be cruel to the #78 guys to put someone, who is mediocre, behind the wheel of their car, after having Kurt this last year.

Go ahead and change the subject why doncha.

Somehow I feel like I've been used . . .

Well, I can admit, under certain situations that my thinking was...wrong. I was thinking that Jeff MIGHT fit in the #78. The 3 of you made me see the light.

and honey, I could replace DW and bring an air of respectability to the sport.

Well, I know you remember...and that might be a stretch...............bahahahahaha..............'respectability' was never a word associated with folks like me or you....

But back more or less on topic here......:moon:

JB may be no Kurt Busch, but then neither is anyone else this side of Greg Biffle.

The 78 car is history as soon as KB departs.

The trick is going to be the fallback when Kurt kicks ass over at SHR or whatever the hell Stewart's bunch is called. Both Havawreck and Stewart have big ego's, and frankly, Kurt can outdrive either one of those divas.

OUCH!!!!!!!

Sorry fenderbumper. Didn't mean to steal your thunder . The devil made me do it!

Almost looks like the forum is turning into "One Flew the Cuckoo's Nest" with lisa_c playing the role of Nurse Ratched.

"Is it OK if we watch the World Series, ma'am ?"

Before I check with Whizzer, Whizzer needs to check himself to make sure that he hasn't peed his pants.

I'm deeply touched by your kind thoughts of my well being and bathroom habits. But you either are getting extremely personal or you have a fetish for urine. I'm leaning toward the later.

Nah, if I were into that kinda stuff I'd have a more appropriate user name like, I don't know, maybe Whizzer or something . . .:D

Ummmmmmm, you might if that were why the pseudonym were used. Look at the avatar. I use to start stock car races in the late '50's and early '60's (before I met my Bride) and in those days there were no red, green or caution lights around the track. The starter stood on the racing surface about one-third of the way between the first turn and the start/finish line and as the cars were exiting turn four I'd run up the track with the green flag folded in one hand and the caution flag folded in the other and if the start was good, would leap in the air waving the green flag!!! The race was on!
One afternoon the lead cars tangled after exiting the fourth turn to take the start (something broke on the car starting on the outside) and headed straight for ............... me. I was still on the racing surface about ten or fifteen feet from the "starter stand" at the start / finish line, a dirt pile with railroad ties planted in the center. That's where I headed and dove behind the dirt pile. The announcer said, "Did you see the starter as he "whizzed" behind that pile of dirt!!! And the name stuck.
Thing is, if the announcer knew the truth, instead of Whizzer, the name would have been "dirty drawers."
To cap off the days events, I got my $20.00 pay check and bought as much Rheingold Beer as $20.00 would buy and the officials and drivers had a party. A six pak at the time was less than a dollar. But you did need a church key!

Anyway, I'm still leaning towards a urine fetish for ya.

I guess that explains it then.

Sorry if I touched a nerve earlier.

Wasn't meant to be anything more than just goofin' around. :)

@dcaraviello
Jeff Burton says he's close to a deal that will keep him in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for next season. Says he can't talk details yet.

51? 78? anyone any thoughts? or opinions? anyone

Probably the 78 team. It was either Montoya, Truex, or Burton. Montoya decided to go to IRL while Truex still hasn't made a decision, though I think he will stay with MWR. That leaves Burton as the top choice for Furniture Row.

or ryan blaney?

Not the #78. In fact I'm not sure Burton was ever considered. If he was, I never heard about it.

I honestly think Truex in the #78 is more likely than not likely - at least at this point in time. Which, as I've watched for the last month or two, could change overnight. It's been nuts. But today, that's what I'd bet my money on.
