Jeff Gordon's amazing "Top 5" finishing record

FWIW, here's the chart for the Modern Era. As you would expect, a lot of changes. Cale and Pearson have far and away the best record except Cale does it in a larger volume of races.

some media person coins the bogus phrase "modern era" makes a couple of charts and here we go. ;) I guess the modern modern era is next.
 
The "Modern Era" almost exclusively refers to after 1972. That was when the schedule was reduced so you were competing against the same guys in every race.
 
I agree totally. Probably a good idea C_numb to remind some of the posters with FL's chart in this thread that whatever "the modern era" is doesn't change history even for Nascar's jesus.

Your right but I like FLRacinFan's chart … Cool Cale at the head of the pack and Pearson with the same percentage in the modern era as his overall percentage … He only ran 35% of his races in the modern era but the top 5 percentage stayed the same … some driver fans need thicker skin …
