Jerry Punch out at ESPN

Loved Jerry's last interview with Kurt as it was a rip-snorter

wow how can hate on DR Jerry Punch, he is part of what made nascar what it is today. Plus his DR skills were needed a few times.

Why bother, at least around here? As far as I've read, most posters here haven't looked at them since their NASCAR contract ended.
Non serious reply* E$PN,?, that thing still around ?

Serious reply* the moment the checker flag was thrown at Homestead in 2014, I have not spent one minute watching any of the ESPN family of channels, and if I could, I would drop them from my channel lineup, they are one of the highest charging carrier fees networks

I think its the last we will see of him in Nascar anyways

ESPN is on the brink of closing the shop itself.

It really is amazing. They basically gave their official "**** sports, we want to be TMZ featuring Steven A Smith" today.
Pick a given weekday and that "garbage" programming - PTI, First Take, SC6, Around the Horn - is their most-watched studio programming. It is what it is. Die-hard sports fans want to hear what Andy Katz, Roger Cossack, Eamonn Brennan, Brett McMurphy, and Jayson Stark have to offer. The casuals want hot takes and debate. And it's the exact same model FOX Sports is adopting with The Herd, Undisputed, and Speak for Yourself.

It’s all my fault.

No idea what either of the programs are nor who the on air, I guess, personalities are.

One day soon we'll remember when ESPN covered sports the same way we now remember when MTV played music videos.

Keep spending well into eight figures a year to operate Longhorn Network though. Don't know what UT fans would do if they couldn't watch their worst one or two football games a year and endless 2006 Rose Bowl replays all day. Hook 'em!

IMHO I cannot believe they layed off Trent Dilfer.

One of the best football analyst at ESPN...

Dr. Jerry Punch was one of, if not my favorite pit reporter in NASCAR on ESPN. Always very insightful.

I always enjoyed his coverage on pit road at the Indy 500.
Spoke matter of factly with out trying to blow it up with
adjectives galore.

Since that's an add-on that customers pay extra for, I suspect it turns a profit. Most of the content is reruns anyway; those can't cost much.

It's a nice paycheck for UT. ESPN lost about $50 million from it in the first five years though. If they're really lucky they may have finally broken even last year.

He is so much better than most of the current pit road people. MW is an annoying ++++++ Dont think the booooooosh brothers care for him though. But who cares what they think.

Freakin SC6 :bleh:

I've never heard anyone say they could stand Michael Smith and Jemele Hill. Anyone. I have no idea what/who they did to get their own Sportscenter. Maybe they have some great dirt on one of the corporate big wigs.

I am not the biggest fan of Cowherd or Whitlock as individuals, but that show just works. I really enjoy it. It's not so much a debate show as it is guys just discussing and bouncing things off of one another. They talk too much NBA though. They made no mention of Dale Jr's retirement the other day but discussed Gordon coming back to the Brickyard last year. Whitlock actually likes NASCAR as he's from IN.

I will consider my life to be richer if I never again hear another word from, or never even hear OF, Colin Cowherd. I dislike his mannerisms, his attitude, his complete on-the-air presence. I was grateful when he left ESPN Radio, an outlet I listen to daily, for FoxSports, a network I look at only for races.

I like Colin Cowherd. The dude's a heel, and he totally embraces that.

I'll share the blame with you, I have no idea either.
I have no idea either....... I don't plan my week around those shows.... and..... they might be on a radio or T.V. channel I don't get..... Lord knows I sure as hell ain't gonna' pay anymore a month than I already do........ Right now my phone service, internet and T.V. is costing me 300 bucks a month..... they can kiss my butt if they think I'm gonna' add anything more........
