I posted this in the Snowball Derby race thread but I know people have been asking here. I talked to her about her 2014 plans over the weekend while I was having a better weekend than the rest of you guys and girls were. She said she doesn't have anything lined up for 2014 yet.

I sure hope someone steps up and gives her a ride next year.

I would love to see Johanna, and Alex Bowman get some real money behind them so they could drive for a top notch team and have the chance to showcase what they could really do. But, it takes an astounding amount of money, and it is getting harder and harder to secure a big time sponsorship these days.

I wish Johanna all the best.

I'd love to see a woman, be it Johanna or anyone else, move up the ranks of nascar's top division's for no other reason than because she is a competent and competitive driver that can be a threat for race wins.

The car doesn't know the gender of the driver. It will probably take a number of female drivers getting into the system before a competitive driver comes along. I'd like to see it sooner than later so we can get rid of the All Things Danica thread.

I think Johanna can get it done in some decent equipment, she doesnt seem to tear up as much equipment as some of the other female drivers

Personally , I'd hate to see Johanna or any other female get a cup ride . No other female driver should have to take the crap and abuse that Danica does . Maybe in a few years the male fans can get used to having a female in the field , but I don't see that happening any time soon.

wow. maybe another female driver will be able to drive a stock car.

Have you ever gone from 40th to the top 10 at Martinsville? Ever sat on the pole for the Daytona 500? Ever won an Indy car race? You and I could sit here and insult every driver in Nascar but they all have accomplished more than we ever will.

LOL!

You clearly don't understand why the majority of racefans don't like Danica. She waters down our sport. It's not rocket science. Johanna Long would probably be a far better racecar driver given a proper opportunity.

You mean ..make the chase in her rookie year ? Not likely .
No one asked her to make the chase. Maybe just don't wad up racecars and act entitled as **** for no reason all the time.

Johanna seems much more humble than Danica IMO. I doubt she would ever get upset at an awards ceremony monologue like this past weekend. The other drivers took everything pretty well.

I didn't hear any of the other racing series mentioned on the American Country Awards tonight...but, because of Danica Patrick, Nascar was. Women like Johanna and Danica can help bring Nascar even more exposure then it already gets.

I don't believe that and the lines at her merchandise trailers and the reception she gets wherever she goes doesn't support it, post a link to your source please.

ok this is really sexist and frankly I don't care. we have never seen a female be competitive at the top levels of this sport. I am not saying its impossible, but the problem is and I think this hurts females in this sport, is when they are brought up they are kinda forced into the sport not of their own doing but by forces around them. what I would like to see is a female start out racing late models and win some races, even a track championship. not in a chase elliott ubber expensive late model like he got busted in either but a car thats comparable to those racing around it. I watched some races at irwindale, toni mcray looks better on the track than any female I have seen on the track, problem is I doubt she will get a shot. What happens is we see females put right up to truck or NW and they fail at it. this hurts other females who may have really worked at it.

Sorry, I should have said 'you clearly don't know why most fans that dislike Danica, dislike her.' Obviously she's insanely popular.

Does that make more sense?

Restrictor plate poles are about as easy a drive there is in NASCAR, and she didn't finish top 10 at martinsville. Also, she had a whopping 1 fuel mileage win in top equipment in indycar, yet her replacement, james hinchcliffe, immediately won 3 races.

how can you say that? This is what she is suppose to do, SHE IS A RACE CAR DRIVER. I would hope she can drive a race car better then me. I bet she doesn't know the first thing about piping in a 20 ton chiller or a cooling tower as big as a townhouse. But on the other hand I can drive a car and do some pretty bad ass burn outs and doughnuts. since she hasn't won any nascar races we don't even know if she can do a victory burnout, maybe I can drive better then her.

When Johanna Long is in the race, I don't think much of it, the car and driver will not be a factor in the race. When Danica is racing, I am waiting on and expecting a caution. Granted, toward the end of the season she figured out how to not cause a wreck, but was a backmarker for the most part in a car that shouldn't have been one. Johanna has an excuse to run in the back at least, but neither are setting the world on fire. This thread is like talking about Swan racing.

Andy, does Johanna or her family own the car that she drives at the Snowball Derby?

Thats your counter argument? Whether or not I like my life (I do since you bring it up) has absolutely nothing to do with the post I made questioning Danica's merits as a driver. Since you went straight to meaningless insults I know that I'm right on my points. I'm not sexist either, could care less who races, but if a driver isn't good ill say they aren't good.

He was being sarcastic. Wasn't a stab at you. It was a response to someone else in this thread or the Danica smashsh!t thread..

Like DUN said, I was making fun of some of the Danica fans, not you.

I agree that meaningless insults should not be tolerated here. But apparently you can say almost anything you want about some of the people on this forum (like the people that criticize Danica) as long as you don't quote them or mention them by name.

IMO you should be allowed to say almost anything you want about anything in the world of nascar. But when someone starts trashing some of the people on the board they've crossed the line into personal attacks. Whether or not they quote you or mention you by name, they are talking about the people on this forum and it is a personal attack.

It's a shame the mods allow that sort of thing.

The majority of race fans are at Danica's merchandise trailer? Yeah, right.

During driver intros at Martinsville, all I heard was a chorus of jeers when they introduced her. And the MPD voting tells me she isn't enormously popular.

Unfortunately, Earnhardt Nation still rules NASCAR and the sport will never grow because of it. They ran off Juan Pablo Montoya, they're trying to run off Danica Patrick and then they'll try to run off Bubba Wallace. It's the same contingent that files out of the stands by the tens of thousands when Junyer crashes or blows an engine.

I'm just glad Jimmie Johnson's going to be racing for his seventh championship now for no other reason than the fact that it pisses Earnhardt Nation off.

You must be trolling.
Surely you don't believe anyone would make a career decision like leaving nascar based on the fact that they get boo'ed during driver intro's.

The sport did grow. they came they watched they left. nascar is not for the masses. most of the time it is boring to watch lap after lap just waiting for something exciting to happen

Yeah, improving the product is part of what needs to be done. Fact of the matter is, this sport still revolves around Dale Earnhardt and the sport's success still relies on a man who will never win a championship and may never even win another race. 10 years from now, we're still going to be hearing stories from the announcers every lap about how Dale Earnhardt did this and that at Charlotte one race back in the 1980s. Earnhardt was one of the all time greats but it's time to just let go.

how are you going to let go of history? we still hear about the kings 200 wins. Plus all them Earnhardt fans your bitching about weren't nascar fans before DALE.

Yeah, we don't hear about Richard Petty's 200 wins every 20 laps of every ****** race and during every pre-race show, every practice show, every qualifying show and there aren't several segments devoted to Richard Petty during every Daytona 500 pre-race show. It's annoying. It's been annoying for the last several years. And now there's another new gimmick with Austin Dillon running the #3 car, we get to hear every race about Dale's legacy.

I'm not saying NASCAR should let go of history. Earnhardt's legacy is, however, just that, history. NASCAR needs to be about the current drivers. The more and more that it's all about the past and not about the present or future, the less relevant the sport becomes.

I would like this a thousand times if I could, couldn't agree more.

We need to get rid of the announcers that raced with Dale Earnhardt that have nothing but the past on which to reflect.
