Jr. fans, who will be your driver next season?

Kenneth had no issue putting little Logano into the wall as payback, and didn't blink doing it. That took guts!
Guts? that was the act of a driver who considers himself privileged and nobody should race him.
As no one to date has offered him a ride, I suspect team owners including JG's recognize he is due to be let go.

Winning races makes drivers popular. It's easy to say the sport is screwed since all the big name drivers are retiring but as young drivers start winning races their fan bases will grow. It's easy to forget that when most of the popular drivers now first came into cup they barely had a following.

Watch Kyle Larson win five or six races and a championship and see his fan base. Same goes for when Blaney, Elliott, Byron are consistently in victory lane.

I guess I meant it was an act that resembled the days when men were men and settled their scores as such. My overall lament is that racing lacks some of the character and characters of the glory days. The racing is not worse...it is more competitive overall relative to the number of quality cars on the track.

That's what I'm sure the big wigs are deathly afraid of, how many fans will walk away when he walks away?

I had a buddy in my auto services class whom I asked the "title" question here. He did not name a driver, bluntly stated that he disliked Bowman a lot ("'he's ****y as all hell'"), and suggested he wouldn't watch it next season and beyond just because Jr. is retiring. :( So me and my Uncle Jesse are the only two people I know in real life who have liked NASCAR in the past, still like it in the present, and will more than likely continue to watch it in the future.

Frankly, I refuse to go just because Jr. is leaving. The prospect of a field without him actually interests me. I've basically grown up with Jr. being the man. I want to see who is next as the torch-bearer, because I honestly have no idea who it will be. A lot of people say that Chase Elliott will be. I can see why. In my opinion, though, there's a dozen or so who have the personality and the accomplishments in their career to become the most popular driver from here on out.

Would it be safe to say that Kyle Larson is already building up a large amount of fans?

I will probably become a Bowman fan, @StandOnIt can agree with me seeing how I was harping about him at BK and TBR for the past four years or so.

I'm also a fan of Cole Whitt, hey I like the underdogs.:D

You know what my favorite underdog/rookie Alex Bowman moment was? Several years ago, NASCAR posted a video on their official YouTube channel that was focused around getting the fans to identify all of the Cup rookies of the 2014 season. Poor Bowman was not acknowledged by very many fans even though he was the reporter going around asking them to identify the rookies. He introduced himself to the fans and obviously shocked some of them. One girl was like "See you on the track, Alex... Bowman!" I thought he was a pretty cool guy, and I thought that he handled that situation really well.

There are a few reasons you can never compare drivers against another era. In the early days. the drivers where older men and they had day jobs to feed their families. Some had to stay late after races just so they could repair their car enough to tow it home while others could get help to load it on a trailer. Jump forward to today, Drivers fly into a track, get chauffeured to their motor home already set up at the track. After the race they all fly home unless rained out.
This was a gradual thing that took years to accomplish. Today these drivers are kids that where raised on the teet of their mother and totally supported by the parents and the process is continued by team owners, sponsors and the media.
So when you think of the glory days, sit back and think how glorious it was for those men, some of them not knowing if each race was the end of their career because they only had but one car and so many parts.

Bowman? ****y?

What kind of drug is your friend on?

I was a massive Rusty Wallace fan. When he retired I kinda got lost but rooted for kurt Busch due to him driving the 2 but it wasnt the same

I don't have favorites anymore. I just watch when I do watch

It's not as fun for sure

Hopefully some stick around and just enjoy the racing. I don't miss having my day ruined as a result of my driver having a bad race.

:p Lawd knows.

I don't really keep up with him anymore.

Bowman is a personable guy and unquestionably talented. Rick Hendrick is not known for making bad decisions driver-wise. ;)

Only one and we all know who that was. I believe he drives a yoder now. :D

Same here.

The influx of young drivers has kept it interesting, even though I don't really cheer for any of them.

I experience that with all of my sports rooting interests though. As much as it sucks I can't imagine not having that kind of passion for something.

I think the 18 stats in the time since he left the 5 speak for themselves, especially considering the numbers the 5 has put up in the same time. Khane is a way more questionable hire than Kyle Busch. Khane is a Dale Jr. Light and is popular for early career performance and might be struggling the same reason as Jr and not understanding this car. Either way Kyle Busch is far from Rick Hendrick's questionable hires.

I have always been a Jr. fan. I have no intention of "picking" another driver. I will just be a fan of the sport and still watch every race. If a driver grabs my attention then so be it, He/she will be who I root for.
