Kahnes Interview at Loudon, NH

How do you have a thread about an interview but do not have the interview in it

Nothing to see here folks, the guy was just pissed off and likely didnt want to do the interview at all.

@JennaFryer
Officially, a spokesperson says Kasey Kahne was "just angry" following his accident at NH.

I guess he didn't want to start yelling at himself for wrecking him and sound like a lunatic, so he stayed cool and cut himself some slack until they can calmly talk it out later.

Strange interview. It's as if Doc Punch was asking him why his shoes were that color and Kasey couldn't care less.

He had just seen his chase hopes disappear and now he had an interviewer asking him in so many words, "how does it feel to see your chase hopes disappear"? I'd be PO'ed too.

Sure, who could blame him for being mad? His demeanor appeared to be more of confusion than rage or anger IMO. Just an observation.

I've had a concussion when playing hockey, and my father had a severe concussion when he fell off the roof, he couldn't remember anything for 2 days and was extremely incoherent (asking the same question every 2 minutes). It was hard to tell if Kasey had a concussion, he was a little iffy coming out of the car and a paramedic was dragging him by his arm for a minute and then he seemed to have recovered.

I think he couldn't remember how he got to the wall was that between the upper wall hit and sliding down to the lower wall he was out of it for a matter of seconds.

Kahne said this on twitter : "Sore today but you'll have that when you hit walls. Was racing hard with the 55 and lost it. Feel bad for my guys, will be ready for Dover." So he appears to be fine, but was just extremely angry. I think he was trying to make the interview as awkward as possible to end it as fast as he could. I know I wouldn't want to talk to anyone after something like that.

Kahnes my driver btw and happy he's alright. It sucks that he's pretty much out at this point, but good health is more important than a trophy.

I can't figure him out. He can outright wheel a car, but at this point in his career he should have the crashing figured out. He was holding his wrist when he got out of the car, so maybe he jammed it when he first went sideways under the 55. that hit was really just a scrape. The car would have been fine if the tire didn't hit first.

It definitely looked like Kasey had just had his bell rung. Like others say it is accumulative so although I missed his wreck I doubt it has to be too hard a hit to have an effect on someone who keeps doing it.

He was just mad

It was a polite angry.:)

He just looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there, at that moment. No interest in being interviewed.

Exactly. He was keeping his composure as best he could...good for him

Or, he knew he was going to catch hell for not wrecking the #20 when he had chance.

It was more than just angry. He was moving like he was in slow motion when he got out of the car. I've never been angry enough where I couldn't put words together.

Definitely more imo
I'd hate for them in the 3 quotes above yours to be my Doc....Lol

I just wonder what exactly they do in the care center? Ask them their name and if they know it, that's good enough?

Ask the drives to sign their hat, pose for pictures with the driver.
I'm sure they don't look for any symptoms of a concussion because it's not like they're trained to do things like that.

At the infield care center, the driver's treatment is coordinated by a medical liaison appointed by NASCAR who transports driver medical records from track to track, including results of each driver's preseason physical examination and his medical history. Each track also has its own medical director.

"The NASCAR medical liaison team consists of four RNs and three physician consultants," Tharp said. "Our board-certified consulting physicians include a neurosurgeon, an emergency medicine physician and a trauma surgeon. Each one practices their specialty full time and is a medical director or co-medical director for the track where they reside."

NASCAR requires each track to adhere to strict standards of treatment at its infield care center.

"The medical liaisons, along with the consulting physicians and the input of the medical directors at the tracks, have created a set of medical standards which assures qualified physicians and nurses to staff the infield medical center and that proper equipment and supplies are in place," Tharp said. "There is also a set of standards for ambulance, fire, safety, helicopter, etc."

Doctors staffing NASCAR infield care centers can – but are not required to – give drivers a Concussion Reduction Technology test or MRI if a concussion is suspected. Drivers with concussions must receive medical clearance to return to racing.

Oh yeah that's just him being polite while very angry at the situation.

Kasey gets bonus points for not putting on a full on meltdown show and going full on retarded like Kurt.

I just didn't want people to think it's a bunch of idiots running around in there.

I have a client in Bristol and part of their staff man the Infield Care Center @ BMS.

NASCAR will likely require baseline concussion tests for all drivers in 2014. Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR's senior vice president of racing operations, said officials have also urged drivers to get an ImPACT test before this season

Reports are surfacing tonight (possibly from the Fender Bumper camp) that Kasey was ticked off because he was told to spin by Rick Hendrick himself . Apparantly some sort of Boy Scout semaphor was used from the RV lot. :)

You just beat down every person on this board that has ever stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

Thinking more about the interview and watching it again Punch seems to notice something just not right with Kahne but when they cut back to the booth audio Bestwick thinks it's just anger. I guess we all see it differently.

I'll be honest, I dont know what the hell it is.

When I saw the interview live, I was concerned and voiced my opinion. That said, I knew Kahne had just been released from the care center and had been examined by a trauma doc.

dpkimmel2001, thanks for that information on doctors and nurses in the infield care center. I honestly didn't know what kind of staff they had. I wish they would check for concussions every time a driver is sent there.

Although I'm sure he was angry, every time I watch that video, Kahne slowly getting out of the car, the awkward interview; it's just not like Kahne to talk that way. He's normally shy but outspoken and clever, but I saw no such thing this time around. I just hope he's fine and not hiding any issues like Jr. did.

Jesus he's just mad as hell. When I'm pissed off about something & I know it's completely my fault, the last thing I want is a camera in my face & some reporter asking me ridiculous questions with obvious answers.

You can turn these interviews down cant you?

I think the only interview session you cant miss is the consference one with the top 3 guys. So given that, why not turn down the interview instead of looking spaced out and very uninsterested? Just saying.

Oh look a driver showing an emotion! He's not allowed to do that
