Kansas Pre Race Thread

@jeff_gluck
Raining at my hotel in KC and dark clouds all around. Unless Goodyear’s new tire is a rain tire, this might not be a good day for testing.

Wonder if she remembered what happened last time at kansas...
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain but the almighty Oz may just may just give her a good finish this week.

@bobpockrass
NASCAR opened the garage about 15 minutes early so teams could get their cars in the garage before the storm hits.

Hmm and who is going to win, maybe a non chase driver this week?

Wow! Race Hub is on at 8:00am on the west coast this morning.

Kansas has been mighty rough on my favorite driver. Hope he can get this race behind him without totally ruining his chase hopes.

It is mighty strange to watch the Race Hub before I go to work in the morning !!

Kansas is a terrible track for KyBu with an average finish of 24th over the last 5 races.

Yeah baby! The rain has stopped and the one and only Air Titan has now hit the track to take laps.....

BVqj2cOCYAEZJyK.jpg:large

Well this thing is mammoth.

I can see why track owners wouldn't want to take on this, one its too costly and 2, how on earth would you fit this in a track like Martinsville?

Odds makers made a mistake. Should be 5000-1 for the 10 car. :D

I don't see Gordon doing very well in this race since it seems Crew Chief Alan only knows how to set up Jeff's cars for long runs. There have been a lot of cautions here since the repave, so I expect a lot of short runs.

Some Air Titan news after its use at the speedway yesterday. Not just for drying anymore.

from jayski

NASCAR made good use of its new Air Titan track-drying equipment at Kansas Speedway. Besides drying the Kansas Speedway track in about an hours time after Thursday mornings rain, the Air Titan an advanced track drying system unveiled at this years Daytona 500 was used on Wednesday to clean the track. One of the things were testing is cleaning the race track before we get to them, Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president for competition said after Thursdays Goodyear tire test. The Air Titan gets the sand, the silt, the dirt and grime & we did it at Chicago, at Richmond. & The grip level was pretty good, and its an opportunity for the track to take on the natural rubber of the tires. Pemberton said NASCAR brought the Air Titan to Kansas Speedway last July before four Sprint Cup drivers tested the new tire. We were surprised after two prep sessions the amount of stuff that naturally comes out of the track, Pemberton said. Its another advantage of having that piece of equipment available to us. We may continue to do it next year, too

Did anyone else catch what Letarte said about the #88's chase hopes just before the NH race? Well, be prepared for the #18 and #20 to drive another nail into the HMS coffin at Kansas this weekend :)
