Kenseth?

I said the same thing about Tony when he left JGR.
Tony is running his own deal and making his own decisions. Somebody else will be running things and making decisions for Matt. I too was skeptical when Stewart left JGR but Tony isn't the norm when it comes to drivers. I wish Matt all the best but I believe he's making a mistake.

I doubt he had much choice......Roush wanted a ride for his Young Guns.
He says he didn't realize that Matt was close to making a deal elsewhere....Sure, whatever.

gibbs would be smart to move home depot sponsorship to matt and give joey the new sponsorship. joey has never and still isn't a home depot guy.

"...The move, announced Tuesday at Roush Fenway Racing, paves the way for Kenseth to join Joe Gibbs Racing in 2013. Sources indicated that a deal is close with JGR, which could use Kenseth to replace Joey Logano, whose contract is up at the end of this year, or start a fourth team for him.
While a JGR spokesman declined to comment on the issue, Ford’s racing director Jamie Allison indicated that Kenseth would not drive a Ford in 2013. There had been some speculation Kenseth could go to Penske Racing, which is switching from Dodge to Ford next season..."

Where did you find this BF?

As soon as I saw the announcement regarding The US Army pulling sponsorship from SHR I began to wonder if this is all related somehow to Kenseth future. Did SHR know about this awhile back and sign Matt and a sponsor? Could Home Depot be involved?

Just pondering...

Matt is going to JGR, and if he hasnt signed yet then i would think they just got stiff competition in Penske.

I'm poundering that myself. I think either way Home Depot is Matt's sponsor. I think he's the image they're looking for.

I said this in the other thread but I would love to see Kenseth in the Home Depot car. It was my favorite car growing up and I've tried to root for Logano and just can't really find anything I like about him. I'd be thrilled to see Kenseth in the #20.

However, fender said he could see Kenseth going to Stewart-Haas but if that ends up happening I'd love to see Tony back in the orange Home Depot car and let Kenseth take Office Depot. Now that would be awesome.

I've felt that SHR was more likely than JGR all along. Why would Matt take a step down in performance? HMS is the only step up, and SHR is the only choice out there. So SHR dumps Ryan unless they can find sponsorship. Matt comes to SHR with Home Depot, and that explains JGR's comments that they "hope" Joey will drive for them well in to the future.

If JGR can't find anything for Joey, he would be a prime candidate for any open Penske ride.

Wow, I never thought about that. Tony is the only one beating JJ in the Lowes car. Damn, that would be huge.

Could this be the news that enables Matt to announce his plans? If it is SHR, Newman is gone. As Moejoe says, SHR wouldn't go from 2 to 4 teams in one year.

Kesneth has made it clear that he has already signed a contract so anything that opened up afrter that probably wouldn't make much to difference to him.

True, but I have a feeling SHR knew about this decision by the Army weeks ago.

Who knows. Wondering about stuff is what I do. :)

The thing that most makes me believe that Matt is going to JGR for Home Depot (possibly w/Dollar General for several races) is that Joey told reporters that he wasn't allowed to say anything about it. Also Gibbs saying they wanted to keep Joey forever. And with the reporters having so many friends in the garage all saying that Matt is going to JGR, it just seems like a lock.

But if nothing else, the situation with The Army leaving SHR makes things interesting.

Honestly I am not putting too much stock into the Army leaving SHR. We all knew that was a possibility months ago. To me them announcing it is just probably there way of telling other sponsors out there they are looking.

As for Matt and JGR. I could see Gamestop and DG going fulltime split with JLo, and Home Depot coming back full time with Matt.

All good points. What gets me is the ultra tight secrecy around Matts future. Everyone knows that Joey is on thin ice with Home Depot, so why keep a secret that isn't a secret?

My guess is they are trying their best to figure out the sponsorship issues for next year and maybe the potential sponsors want to keep it hush hush?

There are 2 firestorms brewing. When Matt announces his plans, people in the media could be playing driver dominoes for weeks. If AJ's B test comes back clean, that would cause a huge sheet storm for Aegis and NASCAR. Which puts Aegis in the very awkward position of possibly signing their own death warrant.

If the B sample comes back negative and Aegis ends up being wrong does anyone else think Mayfield may stick his ugly head back into the situation? I am sure he is watching this very closely.

Mayfield lost on a technicality, not the validity of the test. A clean AJ B sample wouldn't help him much in court.

I am no lawyer, but I understand that Mayfield lost because of the agreement he signed with Nascar and that he agreed to the Nascar testing. However couldn't one argue that the agreement is upon Nascar providing an accurate and valid testing procedure? If they can prove that Nascar's procedures are not accurate and valid that might be enough to throw out the original agreement.

My understanding is that he wasn't able to get around the agreement he signed that said he had no rights to sue nascar....ever.

I understand that. However when two side come to an agreement it is usually means both sides has to hold up their part of the agreement. I am wondering if Mayfields side can say that Nascar didn't hold up their part of it.

They tried in court and failed.

Ah, but they didn't have proof. It was their word versus Nascar's. This could be the proof they are looking for. If it turns out that AJ never failed the test and Nascar and Aegis were wrong, then Mayfield can stand up and say see.

And nascar and Aegis will use it as proof that they admit their mistakes. Back to where they started. From what I have heard, Mayfield had a clean test taken at another lab 45 minutes after Aegis took his 'dirty' sample. It's also been reported that Mayfields 'dirty' sample was suspect because the reported levels would have been lethal. If that wasn't enough, I doubt Aegis admitting they messed up with AJ would help Mayfield.
