Kurt Busch to SHR?

I'm sure it'll be fine.. it's not like Tony is gonna leave SHR because Kurt is there.

Expanding from two to four teams in just a couple of years is a huge deal. I can't think of any other team that's made a jump like that. I won't be surprised if they all struggle again early next season, or even longer.
 
I would think he'd be more upset that Haas is willing to sponsor a 4th car for Kurt then for his friend, in Newman.

For the record I wasn't talking about him not being there. I get that, it just seems low class to conduct a deal like this when your partner is in the hospital.

Oh okay fair enough, if anything this whole situation has shown me that Tony isn't pulling all the strings and he is only half the ownership. The way this all played out really looks like there are 2 separate ownership entities with Tony and Gene, and Gene is saying "I want a piece of the action". He probably didn't like footing the bill for Tony's pal only to see Newman be moderately competitive and a non factor more often than not.
 
or the fact that Tony got himself injured. Maybe this is Gene's way of asserting himself since he knows Tony is gonna do whatever he wants.

Agree with all of the above. Gene pulling his power strings to get back at Tony for breaking his leg, meanwhile, Tony is fuming that his friend is out of a ride.
 
Whoever is doing what, is going to make next year very interesting I know that much. I am looking forward to the changes, they have a new crew member Rodney Childress, that has the chassis figured out in the 55 car. They definitely need him, he might be the most important person they have acquired.

Yeah, I was listening to this on my commute today. That news came as a surprise to everyone that TS was not on board with this. What kind of business partner does something like that? I also listened to GH on Sirius Radio's NASCAR channel and he stated it pretty much the same way as he had in the news conference. TS didn't know anything about him making the offer but GH said that TS warmed up to the idea after about a week. They don't have the staff or the room to expand. Sure, people will be hired and a building will be built. The building is to take up to June of 2014 for completion. On top that HMS will now be cranking out additional engines, chassis, etc to supply the new SHR entry. In the meantime, they will be pulling from the resources that they already have to be used for Kurt's new venture from the other teams within SHR. I'm thinking that with what was announced today that we may just be looking at the infancy stage of TSR (Tony Stewart Racing). I don't know how you can be a business partner that goes behind your back. Maybe that's just me?

Maybe what he means by Tony warming up to the idea is Tony is not shooting at his ass every time GH tries to enter his room.
 
That's what happens when you're a minority owner.

Hass completely undermined Stewart. This could be bad in the long term.

To me, this doesn't look like a compromise at all. Looks like Hass said and wanted Kurt and went ahead and made it happened.

2 teams to 4 teams in one year is huge. I hope this blows up in Gene's face.

Tony should have gone for the 51% ownership.
 
GH was still in the federal pokey when they made the deal and under federal house arrest when they finalized it. I heard that GH had lost his hard card and got it back just in time for the all star race that TS won. I don't know what all of that means or how it affected the contract but its just more facts to stir the pot with.

newman has 4 wins in essentially the better part of 5 seasons. the most kurt won with penske was 2 races in a season. so 10 wins in 6 seasons with penske. if you are gene haas you are looking at potentially doubling the wins newman produced in the same time period. come to think of it kurt didn't exactly set the world on fire at penske, he will likely end up with about the same top 5 total as when he raced at penske this year with FRR. didn't childress try to make a play on kurt way back years ago and harvick said NO WAY. wonder how harvick likes the idea of working with KB?? another way to look at this tony can say well gene you want to bring in kurt, you know what it takes to run a team, guess what I know you are putting up 20 million of your own money that will go into the company to run that car next year, part of that money is profit for SHR and you know I am keeping my half. so tony should be making money off bringing kurt in. it would have been really interesting if tony wasn't hurt, to gauge tony's reaction to bringing on kurt at the press conference.
 
Harvick says he's excited to work with Kurt. Both say it wouldn't have worked 10 years ago, but they've both matured. Tony, Kevin and Kurt are 3 of the most passionate competitors in Cup, so maybe being on the same team will calm things a bit.

Haas is figuring on paying KuBu less of a salary than Newman.

KuBu's salary combined with his fines will break the bank. :D

don't know if this will repost, but TexasRaceLady's post from Monte Dutton deserves a repeat. add in the fuel that maybe tony wasn't onboard with the idea and this team has the potential to dominate headlines. I don't see this group playing together quite the same way as jeff, jimmie, jr., and kasey.

Kurt said one of the things he liked about the 78 is they listened and considered his input. Does he really think that will be the case now? He is now the red-headed step child of SHR. Haas will listen to him, but good luck getting Tony, Harvick, or Danica to.

Not to worry , a call has been made to pit stop school and six of their second year students have been put into advanced training. They expect to have them ready by Daytona . Gene Haas is going to hold the pit board . Somebody pressed the easy button. It's a go.
