Kurt's Meltdown

And type with one hand? Really, now.

Maybe I'll just slam my foot in the truck door instead.

One handed posting has it challanges and goofy moments. But it gets worse.......

....somewhere somehow, some guy got the bright idea that he could spank the back side the screen, and he killed it. These new little flat screens just dont have enough junk in the back and they can't take it.

FTR I do not want Kurt to be banned, nor have I seen enough from Darlington to warrant any type of suspension. As a RCR fan I would even say the Kyle Harvick deal in 2011 could have been seen, to be just as dangerous (involving a free rolling unmanned car).
But Kurt does hurt it his chances to get sponsors, if any chance still remains. He probably will never get one anyway that is looking for a boy scout type to pitch to a broad family friendly market. He probably isn't going to get one promoting an Alcholic product either, I am not a drinker but I am not thinking Kurt is the type that the masses would like to share their favorite product with.
He needs a sponsor that is new black, and outside the typical cultured demands. Really a long shot.

I hate it for Finch, if he sticks to his word he wants to be out of the sport and spending times with the grand kids in a few years. I cant see Finch really loving anything about Kurt apart from his obvious driving skills. It would be nice to see Finch getting an owners deal (Big $ dollars) when he calls it a day and looks for setting up a going out business sale. The man has invested a lot of his money and had a few heartbreaks we lost Bennett in one of his cars, and I think Purvis career ending injuries occurred in his wheels. I know he invested a lot in bringing Jeff up and through the BGN series.

He has been at a long time, and close the the threshold of really getting established ,only to remain the perpetual undersized operations, I wish we had more Finchs and less superpowers. If we had more like him, the drivers would have more options to be themselves. With only a few like Hendricks, Roush, Childress, and Penske the corporate generic foot print is bigger, and you have to answer to Mr Superpower, who by the way controls many satellites so stay on his good side, he really is the boss ( you got it!\?, and don't forget it!). He is not bad guy and this generation of drivers are real, but the structure or landscape promotes bland and boring faces, rather than edgy push the envelope types.

Guys like Finch don't get enough appreciation.

I'm not sure that Monster Energy isn't the sponsor that needs Kurt . They are big into motocross and those boys don't teach Sunday School. A real good ride in the All Star Race might give them the marketing numbers that they can't say no to. Just thinkin.

I can see your reasoning.

The commercials will look something like an old Godzilla movie. "Why the fook do we put up with anything other than fooking Monster drink. Everyone should drink fooking Monster drink. Now all of you fookers go out and buy fooking Monster drink."

Actually Kurt is a very bright , articulate, personable , and good looking past champion who unfortunately has a bad temper when under extreme stress. I don't believe that he swears in normal conversation.;)

HUH!!!!!!

I don't know fella's....from what they showed of the incident on SPEED I'm not so much for the fine.

Yeah, but the move thru the pit was dangerous, even though the #39 team was playing games by fully populating every corner of their box when they could have waited to clean the box before they went home.

He's been let go from two well funded teams. He shows no respect for the teams or organizations. He's like a 3 year old in the market throwing a temper tantrum. Nothing is ever his fault, same goes for his brother.
Think what you will but they both need to met up with Spencer behind a hauler for a attitude adjustment, Jimmy style.

You had me in your corner till the very end, I can't stand Spencer. I'd say let old RC have at them. Kurt needs to wake up, he's got talent. He's burned a lot of bridges and no offense to James Finch, Kurt's a Champion and he should realize he should be in a much better position than he is and it's only him that's done it to himself. Get your s*!t together Kurt.

I like RCs headlock and right cross better than Jimmies jab.

Good looking?

The only time I can imagine is when he showed up with the Spencer'd face at Bristol.
But even then he was just a teaser, IIRC he kept the glasses on and offered a only a side look for the cameras (as in sheilding with a side profile to hide the other side, rather than looking straight at the camara). I wouldnt even say he has an honest face, since it was not ready to face the the world that week.

He should thank Spencer for trying to help him, and saw that his car couldnt always insulate and protect him form being jerk, sooner or later he has to get out and face people for what is said and done . If he would have done some soul searching and growing up after the whipping, he would still have a first class ride and be contending for titles, as in today.

As for his private life, I dont know, but I am more inclined to believe that an idiot in public is an even bigger one in private. I hope he doesn't treat the women in his life that way. That's the biggest reason any CEO with a brain will be sure that no sponsor money goes his way. He sends a "white trash vibe" that may have more problems yet to be discovered.

Avoid him like the plague he is not worth the risk. If you have that kind of money then throw it at a Stenhouse, or another highly skilled vet needing sponsorship, in these times they can be found.

Greg , I don't like Kurt and I am the last one who should be defending him . He is a jerk and 'white trash' with problems galore . I just hope that the younger (under fifty ) Nascar fans take a good look at him before he is gone . He is an old school racer . A thowback . A dinosaur . The last of the old Junior Johnson moonshiner types . You do NOT want to have this guy teaching Sunday School to your kids .

At 0:50 this video has footage of Kurts burnout thru the 39 teams pit.

I am not in a postion to watch the video, I will. But I am taking folks word for it that it was no big deal. Kurt just is a very unsympathetic figure that I going off on for being Kurt Busch ( and cause I am bored), not so much for Darlington. I did find the pictures of him being restrained funny.

I thought the video was inconclusive . I heard fan comments who saw it ,saying it was way over the top , and Nascar doesn't fine drivers for burning rubber out of the pits . So I gotta think that Kurt let his temper get the best of him in that instance .

And there was an official right there who would decide if it was a dangerous move. Then again, Tony hit 2 crewman last year alone by coming too close when he exited his pit.

Right , others have too. So he was fined for a combination of things ,including slamming the door on his way out of the hauler and the way that he didn't properly line up at the back of the field when he was told to.Hope he learns from it , but that is not likely.

I didn't realize that the fine was for other things besides the burnout in the pits. Slamming of the hauler door is another one of Kurt's temper tantrums:youliketh

Good to hear from you again Topgearfan . Yep Kurt has lots of meltdowns , but every time he does , it seems to get overplayed a bit . He is certainly not the first ,nor will he be the last , to burn rubber out of the pits in anger , nor was he the first to slam the door of the Nascar hauler , or swear at his crew . He certainly is an a-hole but he's not the first one of those either . I defend him a bit because I think that he is the last of the a dying breed , who drank , faught ,and swore all the time . You just don't see that type of old school a-hole in Nascar anymore. Sad. End of useless rant.

well said

When they had him in the hauler you can bet he was warned about his temper and reminded that while they love what he brings to the sport they won't go out of business if he leaves. The 50k was a "this is so you know we are serious and next time we won't be so nice" type of gesture.

Kurt Busch needs NASCAR a whole lot more than NASCAR needs Kurt Busch. Hopefully he will figure that out before it is too late.
