2-time NASCAR champ Kyle Busch dies at 41 after being hospitalized with a 'severe illness'

Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup Series champion who won more races than anyone across NASCAR’s three national series, has died. He was 41.

Busch was testing in the Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord on Wednesday when he became unresponsive and was transported to a hospital in Charlotte, several people familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because details have not been disclosed by Busch’s team or family.
 
An absolute hands-down icon in NASCAR, and a role-model husband and father. We got to see such a plethora of unreal god-given talent and ability on the racetrack mixed with all the shenanigans and antics that made Kyle truly “Rowdy.” Personally, he will always be the “Candy-Man” to me and many others that got to witness his non-contested dominance in the 2010s. His 2015 Cup Championship run was and will always be truly inspiring to me and I think is often overlooked as the greatest comeback in NASCAR history. Kyle, thank you for everything, take your bow and don’t forget to check your lights as you make your way to the pearly gates.
 
Never cared for him nor did my wife but these past few years she mentioned to me that she's kind of softened on that. I told her that's just because he wasn't winning lol. I remember him rubbing his eyes like a cry baby would then laughing at the camera for all his haters after winning a race. I was a hater but I couldn't help but laugh at that, it was funny. I dunno if this link will work it's a Facebook reel of the crybaby taunt for haters was classic Kyle Busch. That's how I will remember him. That and the fact Nascar made a rule that I personally never liked and wish they'd do away with called "the Kyle Busch rule". Damn you know you're good when a rule gets made to keep you from competing and they name it after you lol

I don't think speculation on the cause of death is appropriate at this point. All we know is that it was a sudden illness, no one knows anything else.

Blaise Alexander was killed in an ARCA race in 2001, and Eric Martin the following year at the same track.

Technically Jason Leffler, though he obviously wasn't full-time.

I noticed the last year or so he looked a bit overweight and out of shape, but never did I think something like this would happen.

It seems like my eyes were deceiving me in terms of Kyle’s weight. He was actually in great shape, which makes this ordeal even more baffling.
 
I hope Dale Jr reaches out to Brexton. He’s probably the only other person who can relate to what he’s going through as a racer. How do you continue to build your career after your hero is gone? Both lost their dads so suddenly. Dale Jr was older but he still had to pick up the pieces.
