Larson very bad accident he’s ok

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if he ever chose dirt over nascar. Dirt is what I enjoy watching him race on the most anyway because he is so damn good at it. He is a good race car driver and he seems like a pretty good person... so I will watch him race in whatever series he chooses to race. But I have a feeling he will be a cup champion before he goes to dirt full time.

I think he has some very difficult decisions (for him) to make. Stay with Ganassi, and he never wins a Championship. Go to Hendrick, give up dirt. Maybe there is an in-between somewhere.....Toyota loves him, and would love to have him back. I am wondering who will use the ability to race dirt leverage to land him. Betcha he takes a lower offer for the freedom to do so....this keeps Ganassi relevant in the inevitable bidding war. His Cup hopes depend on what he does in terms of signing next year. We shall see.

Hendrick let Kahne run dirt. Don't know why that would be a problem. Despite what some think, life is more than winning. Larson says it is fun or he wouldn't be doing it and he likes racing for Chip and being able to run almost unlimited dirt racing (25 races during the Nascar season) except within 24 hours of a Nascar race, which Chip waived for the Knoxville Nationals. He finished 2nd that evening, and won the Nascar race at Michigan the next day.

Tell that to the guy dumping 30 million into a team who expects to party in Victory Lane as a result of that. Life might be like that, but sport isn't, and we all know that. I think that Larson needs to thing about maximizing his earnings now, and then go "have fun" later. Might be a better way to get what he wants....

Alex Bowman has built some cars and is entered into the Chili Bowl and he even has an HMS sponsor on the car...Axalta.

Yeah he is entered in the Chili Bowl this year (good looking car) and he ran it last year I think for the first time. Hendrick let Kahne race for years, Kahne had a multi car sprint car team when he raced with Hendrick.. They won the WoO championship with Brad Sweet this year.

Larson is a real racer, don't think and never have thought he would only race cup. He has elevated Ganassi's program is the bottom line. He has won more races than JPM or Jaimie in a shorter time. Don't think he has any worries about Chip pulling him out of dirt races anytime soon. It's going to be one hell of a race at the Chili Bowl, 7 wins and a top 5 with his new team.

I have been to Kahne's race shop a couple of times. It is located in Mooresville between Earnhardt Jr's shop and Martin Truex Jr's shop.

If he has a little luck and can stay out of trouble this could be his year.

I know you are a big Bowman fan, maybe you haven't seen this clip. I didn't realize he ran two cars with T.J. Leary driving one. T.J. is pretty darn good in a midget finished 8th out of over 350 cars.

Thanks, I had not seen that video. I had heard that CJ was going to drive his other car. It has been fun watching Alex evolve over the years from the quarter midgets to where he is today. He has came a long way since he and I would sit in the pits at Ventura and BS when he was racing a focus midget there.

Trotta and Larry Mac roasting the **** out of Bell and Larson on NASCAR Radio this morning. Holy crap. Words used: selfish, doesn't make you a better driver, save it for after your NASCAR career, spend that time in the shop supporting those who support you......Wow. A caller suggested that grassroots racing was a way for the drivers to get closer to the fans, and Larry Mac responds, "Do you really think that is really why Bell and Larson do it?" Callers are pretty fired up. Good stuff.

Larry Mac is way behind the times, but the bad cop thing produces interest. They have a specialist for almost every aspect of cup cars. Drivers can't do anything and are in the way. BTW setting a record for entries in the Tulsa Shootout, over twelve hundred and fifty cars entered. I haven't seen the tally for the Chili Bowl. It's bad for overall racing to take the elitist position IMO. Larson and Bell are multi stars in cup and on the dirt. IndyCar is following suit this year by entering some of their open wheel drivers in the Chili Bowl. Move over and get the hell out of the way Larry Mac.:p

Trotta is even more aggressive.....It's interesting.

I got a good chuckle from the part about spending time in the shop supporting the ones that support you. On most of the teams I have worked on about the only time we would want a driver to hang around the shop is if we needed to fit them in the car. When they do come to the shop all they usually do is sit in a room and autograph merchandise for mail orders and the merchandise trailer.:D

I'm fascinated by the idea that pundits like these two think they're qualified to comment.

They're not.

Aunty with tires like the car in your avatar has, It would seem you raced on asphalt.
A flip on pavement would be even worse than dirt.

I think you can give more credit to Kurt for getting the company going in the right direction. Since Kurt has been there I think Larson has upped his game.

I think Daniella Trotta is one the best ________ (fill in the blank) ever. She and Nicole Brisco will always sound good to me.

I was talking about Ganassi, Larson, dirt racing and Cup. Kurt was a better pick than Jaimie for a cup driver

Larry has turned into a NASCAR shill.

The fans want to see these guys running grassroots, despite what the experts think.

This has definitely been a pretty interesting thread...long live nascar and dirt racing.

Eh....Hard to tell who the fans are let alone what they want to see.

Yeah you're right. Most NASCAR fans are pretty hard to please and there are so many differing opinions on what is the right decision and who should be making the decisions.

Here I will help you...this fan wants to see Larson in a cup car and a midget car and Kyle Busch in a nitro funny car just so we could give him the ride of his life.:D

I like it. :D We get Kyle in the Lexus RFC at Daytona! Very excited about this!

The fan NASCAR is trying to attract doesn't even begin to understand all of the Larson and Bell stuff. I don't think that stuff attracts fans new to the sport...I think it confuses them. Fans of "real racers", however, love it of course.

sure glad KDB fans won't be paying attention or watching because it isn't Nascar. Your logic is really flawed unless it includes your true love and then it is ok.

Happy New Year! Not really. I am sure you would have the Post # where I contradict myself, but really, I have never had a problem with drivers running something other than NASCAR. I do have a problem with a driver who isn't all in in NASCAR. I also question the idea of racing at facilities which are less than the NASCAR standard for safety when you day job is NASCAR....but again, whatevs....I have no doubt where The 2X Champion's loyalties are, and Daytona is a NASCAR track so safety is all good....and I am very biased......so, I am looking forward to it!

I guess Nascar fans will get the KDB stuff racing at Daytona, but they don't get Bell and Larson with your reasoning.

Probably not. I don't think I ever said that what Kyle was doing was anything other than something I am excited about. You are trying too hard.

yeah time to waffle.

I am biased. Most sports fans are. How many times do I need to admit that? "Grassroots Racer" Preece talked about the safety of a modified over a dirt car...a GTD car at Daytona follows the same logic.......so......I am not sure that I am waffling, but if that's what you need, I am a waffler! Happy New Year!

Yeah, I think that is at least partial BS.....every zero they put on the backside of that offer is one less dirt race he is willing to run. He already compromises himself by being in Cup anyway. Same deal with Bell IMO. I don't think either one of them is willing to give up their mansions (Bell's on the way I'm sure) for their hobby.

This is all so funny to me. He owns his own WOO team. It's not a hobby anymore when that amount of money is being tossed around. If he decided to leave Cup at this point he would be just fine. He has developed so many partnerships with sponsors that Cup isn't needed at this point. He runs NASCAR because he wants to win in different disciplines. He has yet to win a Championship at the CUP level and believe it or not, that means something to him. It's the same reason why he ultimately wants to run full time in the WOO series. He is fiercely loyal, which tells me he really might stay with Chip, but on the dirt side his career was given a big boost by Keith Koonz and Paul Silva. It's why when he is back on dirt 99% of the time he is in a Koonz or Silva backed machine. He isn't going to be swayed by a Cup owner or the paycheck. Especially at this point because he is already established financially and could go full time with the WOO series fielding 2 cars if he chose to.
