Legal NASCAR streams?

I believe most major networks carry NBC Sports. It would have to be a very few that don't by now.

Dish carries NBCSN and FOX Sports 1, but its not in their lower tier (Top 120) package, you have to pony up $10 more per month for that next higher package (Top 200). Which is better than it used to be, it used to be 2 packages higher to find the Speed Network. Still, to me, I'm now going to have to pay more to watch NASCAR which not that many years ago I could do for free. I want to pay less for TV, not more.

I don't think it's been free since its condensed versions on ABC's Wide World of Sports. Starting way back in 1981 ESPN broadcast its first race. Not all races were broadcast until 1985 and many of those were only available on cable. In other words, we've always had to pay something to watch a season of NASCAR.

I probably won't have real TV for a good chunk of this season either. I'm hoping to be able to find some good streams for the races; doesn't matter to me whether they're official or unofficial as long as I can still watch them.

Well if any of us find one we should definitely post it here

Definitely, as long as it doesn't put our accounts in jeopardy. Mods, are stream links allowed?

Just head over to the "TV Link" thread that's pinned on this section.

You guys are getting too hunged up on the legality of things. If a race it's available via someone else broadcasting it, watch it.

here's an ole skool idea from 50's / 60's.
instead of spending all that time / energy on constantly searching for free streaming / etc. ...........
why not use it ta work a little more / overtime / 2nd job / etc ........& just pay for fs1 / nbcsn / etc ?

At my age, I doubt I will get a job to pay for TV races. I hope this year we get some races to watch.
Cable networks are not allowed across the border.

They do indeed. Some dont.

Some would just have their logos on screen whenever there is a commercial going on.

I find that streaming things online (Specially on tablets and such) pretty lame because you have to jump through alot of hoops to watch something.

Take the cable app I have for my phone. I can load it up and watch TV on my phone or tablet but if I take a trip to say, New Jersey where my brother lives, if I open that app and try to watch tv away from home it won't let me.

FOX Sports 1 has different ads online than on television, so they make even more money off of it.

I might be wrong but I think Nich's referring to the old FOX/FX/NBC/TNT package. Just about every race was either on FOX or NBC.

From 01-06 it's was usually 26/10 free TV to cable TV

From 07-10 it was 24/12 then espn moved 9 of the 10 chase races to cable and from 11-14 it was 16/20.

It's 17/19 split this upcoming season. Though 5 of the 10 chase races including the last 3 will be on free TV.

Yeah, that sounds about right. The other thing was that races weren't moved from broadcast to cable, unless they were postponed a day due to rain. The only time NBC moved a race to TNT was when a war broke out.

For me those stations are not available (Canada) Our sport network sux

You must be referring to TSN. They have the monopoly on Nascar for Canada. They may show a race at 1 AM
and go live for an Argentina soccer match. :bleh:

All 5 tsn channels suk. They only did the first 2 hours of coverage for the rolex out of 24. Drag racing coverage is non existrent. Nascar races are shown but I miss speed channel. Watching race hub was our nightly routine to keep us abreast of what was going on. Practices were always on in the shop, sometimes muted but enjoyed non the less. Now tsn is hit and miss with broadcasting practices and or qualifying.

I have Shaw so I added speed channel. What the heck $4 a mo. isn't going to kill me. I just gave up 1 day at Tim Horton's. LOL

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but speed is leaving Shaw on April 1st

I dont think Fox is part of the package yet. It is growing though.

They have pretty much everything ESPN, TNT, Universal Sports (NBC). And that's just the sporting Networks.

For 20 bucks a month it is not too bad. Its a great alternative for the cord cutters.

It is. Hopefully someone will find or make an HD livestream that can be used for speedweeks and beyond before it gets shut down.
