Well Matt has more wins, so shouldn't Matt be champion? Wins is what matters right not being the one who earns the most points.
 
I'm not an Austin fan, by any stretch of the imagination, but he did drive well most in most of the races this season.
I think he's capable of being Nationwide Champion but I think NASCAR shot themselves in the foot by not allowing the final race of the season to play out under green flag conditions, especially when the Championship contenders were separated by so few points . I think it puts an asterisk next to Austin's Championship win. IMO, it's comparable to leading a race that's called for rain.
I hope one of the sportswriters has the balls to throw NASCAR under the bus on this one. NASCAR affected the end of this race and also affected the outcome of the season Championship.
It not only robbed Austin of an untainted Championship, but it also robbed the fans in the grandstands and the fans that tuned in to see the Nationwide finale.
 
Flukiest champion in sports history. In an individual sport where you are supposed to race for the win, a winless driver wins the championship. Also, the 2nd place driver had a win, more top 5s, and more top 10s. Plus we have eyes and watch the 54 and 22 win every single week. But we're told the 3 was "the best of the best". Broken series, no wonder nationwide is bailing

Things like this make what Clint Bowyer and Michael Waltrip did somewhat acceptable. They know all the bull**** NASCAR does so they tried to up one NASCAR and failed but you can see now they just played NASCAR's game.

Also more hoorah for what Gordon did the year before too. Taking things in your own hands is the right way to do it. NASCAR only serves themselves. To hell with what everyone else thinks, or does.

I'm beginning to appreciate what Stewart and the guys that dont lay down to NASCAR do now more than ever.

That is something I think that needs to be looked at. Two cuppers come in one and two, the N'wide in third should get the first place points AND the bonus points for first place, most laps led etc. Take the manufacturers championship away from the cuppers too, N'wide drivers race for all that.

I don't have a clue what stick n ball it was, but you said they had plenty of time to get the race in when I mentioned it during the caution remember that? apparently they didn't. not changing my tune, we need a dedicated race station

When a caution comes out with about 15 laps to go, why would anyone want to see 10 of those laps run out under caution? lol

It's not like nascar has never thrown the red flag when a wreck happens near the end of a race. Why do you think nascar has done that in the past?

With so much on the line, it was the obvious thing to do.

Yeaah right , last night ol recky was crying about Crafton's truck.."couldn't believe Nascar would do such an unsafe thing...Bowk bawk...so tonite they have to take more time then they thought to make the track safe and ol recky is crying ..conspiracy..they gave the race to the 3. nutz dude just nutz..Yeah you godo's stick together, have a good nite wank on.

The long caution at the end obviously should've been a red flag, and this is a non-Gordon fan saying this.

They did have plenty of time to get it in. ESPN pushes college football to ESPNU or ESPNews when NASCAR runs long. This isn't rocket science. It's the #1 rule in sports - you start televising a sports event and you stay with it until its completion. It's a cardinal sin to bail before the end of a race or game and has been since the Heidi Game.

They could have red flagged it instead of running 10 laps under caution. But, they didn't red flag it because they knew the #3 car faded on long runs. Those extra caution laps helped him a lot.

I'm not sure, but a few weeks ago I started a thread speculating on what would happen if Gordon would have won the Sprint Cup Championship without winning a race. Had that scenario played out, I wonder if Gordon would have gotten the same reception Austin Dillon is getting tonight?

Just go back to Phoenix 2012. Gordon wasn't exactly being coronated for what he did.

That incident followed him all the way to Homestead. He just happened to cured some of that bad juju with a win.

I asked simply off the fact people always seem to be ok when stuff happens to help their driver that they disapprove of helping someone else. I knew Reck likes Gordon, idk who some of the other like so I simply asked him about Gordon, not everyone.

Not sure what Phoenix 2012 has to do with this, but OK.

I think Austin's championship is legit considering the circumstances. Only four races were won by NNS regulars, so it's not like his fellow championship contenders were racking up wins either.
