Looking for a Fixer-upper?

In the 70's and 80's employees from the Californian offices came here for policy training. All were amazed at how 'cheap' our housing was even back then.
I'm about due for my Christmas Greetings email from a guy I worked with who is in Benicia. His son, wife, and kids live with him and his wife. They have decent jobs but can't afford to buy.

Just to make you all **** your pants ... Mum's 5 1/2 (with parking) is about $800 CDN. As she's a Co-Op member ... she pays half that. They put a new roof on this year, and changed all the windows last. The year before that was new counter tops and the bathroom was gutted to the studs.

It's what happens with overpopulation. :idunno: A developer will probably come in, level that place and put up as many houses as he can get away with

What’s a 5-1/2?

Four bedrooms, two stories, nice neighborhood.

It needs some work. Operative word: some. Work on the floors, exterior, interiors.

Even though the house is not move-in-ready, it comes with a hefty price tag — $1 million.

Oh, I know. Location, location, location. I still find the notion of a million dollar fixer-upper hilarious.
A house around the corner from me sold for $620K. It was probably built in ‘59. One story, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, probably 1400-1600 sq ft. 2 car attached garage.
It was flipped. New inside and out, new roof, plumbing, landscaping.

Any real eastate on the west coast near a population center is pretty damn ridiculous. $1 million for starter home built in the 1950s is pretty stupid.

The worst part? Many people have exit plans from this state due to the housing prices or have left. So if you go to St George, Phx(212 new residents a day in the greater area last I heard), SLC, etc, the prices are booming there too. I'm gonna have to move to bum**** San Antonio if this keeps up.

SanAn isn't that bad. Austin and Dallas are turning blue, but FW and SA are holding red for the time being. Abilene and Amarillo are dust bowls in summer but not bad during winter. As they grow, it will get better. Wichita Falls isn't bad either.

If Eddie Hill is any indication, they have v-drives in Wichita Falls... ;)

Honestly though, at this point, I'm kind of pinned to the the west coast. Gotta love it.

I think that @SpeedPagan has established already the Bum**** is actually in Mississippi......or was that @REBS31 ?

Amost 800K! Wow......Nice view out the back

Even better is that it sits 1000ft off center line from Boeing Field and to the other side 1000ft away from a EPA superfund site.

I beg to differ, I went through tech school in Amarillo and froze my a$$ off.
