Lol, I'm just picturing a bunch of pissed off people dressed up in costumes at a lord of the rings watch party.

That's hilarious! Now mind you, I'm a LOTR fan. But as such, I'm also smart enough to know that LOTR (along with any other epic movie marathon, such as Star Wars) is NOT to be watched on TNT. You think NASCAR races have a lot of commercials? Think again.

How dare they cancel LOTR?!?!

glad it wasn't on Fox, they would show a re run of MMA and shuffle off Nascar to FS2 and we would still be bitching 6 months later.

These movies have been shown on TV for 38 times. So they missed one. Losers!

All the great stuff that was on yesterday and these people were all amped up to watch Lord of the Rings, on TV? :XXROFL:

I can slightly relate, though. This takes me back to the times when WWF Monday Night Raw would be pre-empted by the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and the U.S. Open (tennis). I did my fair share of raging over that as a kid, which is ironic because I love tennis now. I never did manage to get into the dog shows, though. LOL.

There's these wonderful new creations called DVDs and blu-rays. These people should give them a try
Exactly! Took the words right out of my mouth. You'd think if they were all such big fans of the movies, they'd already own them in some kind of format.

Just goes to show that today's youth would rather watch a several year old movie marathon than a live Nascar race... Sad.

I dont think the group of people that are watching the LOTR on TNT are the type of people that would have any interest in racing, let alone automobiles, and to be honest, we dont need them as fans, think about it for a minute, these are the same casual fans that Brian France so badly wanted to get years ago.

LOTR is an extremely popular book & movie series. How many wizard fighting dragons fans do you know that love automobile racing? Its just opposite spectrums of interests - has nothing to do with age.

Hell, Im the only Star Wars addict/collegiate athlete/fisherman/racing fan I know. I fit into every spectrum

Watching movies on TV blows anyways. Why would anyone want to do that?
One of the worst things is watching a movie with a lot of cursing on network TV or basic cable. Although, some of the words they dub over the salty language can be downright comical. Not sure how much cursing there is in the LOTR movies, I've never seen any of them nor do I care to.

The Star Wars marathons on SPIKE are an epic marathon of commercials.

The only good horror or stars warsy type movies feature terrified young ladies getting chased around in their undies (think Freddy Kruger and "Tina, Tina").
Anything that fails to deliver that kind of creativity is a waste of good film, and unworthy of of my mental capacity. A mind needs to be sanctified, set apart and dedicated to the only finest things like fast cars, hawt women, and rock and roll.

Just die LOTR, and please do it quietly, the world is better without you.

When I was in high school, my English teacher forced us to watch all of them because she didn't feel like teaching. I haven't seen one since and have no real desire to.

A live sporting event will ALWAYS be played over a movie, which can be played at any time.

Im a huge sci-fi fan & enjoy star wars, the marvel & DC movies, read the harry potter books, cheesy sci-fi channel shows. Tried watching LOTR. Bored me to tears.

Harry Potter is in a different league compared to LOTR.

Sheeesh!!!

LOTR was an excellent set of movies. There is no debat int that fact.

The part that makes me laugh about people griping about the movie being interrupted is that any real fan of those movies own them on Blu-ray and have seen them countless times already.

Lots of depth in the LOTR trilogy. Those other movies require much less commitment and attention span. I liked all of the ones you mentioned, too.

Game of Thrones tops all of them by a million miles, though. Sure it's not a movie but it's those other stories couldn't full out 80 hours of episodes.

George Lucas is a huge Tolkien fan, and many feel he adapted the LoTR trilogy to come up with Star wars.

Google the 2 titles and there's tons of evidence that Lucas got many of his ideas from Tolkien.

Lucas also brings much of his influence from "The Hidden Fortress" along with other Kurosawa samurai films, Buck Rodgers shows and the works of Joseph Campbell into the Star Wars universe. Critics can bash the dialogue, the acting & even the plots but the depth of the stories of the entire SW universe is nothing short of pure genius.

Tried watching the first Lord of the Rings movie... Boring in middle, beginning and end.

Star Wars and Harry Potter are the exact same thing. Love them both though.
