Yeah it's fuggin weird. Locals that bailed missed a great race.

Shocking, a track in the middle of no where, with seats twice the price of the nearest NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL team, cannot fill the stands.

The location is tough, but one of the most exciting tracks on the schedule. You'd think even with the price, they would be able to sell more tickets.

Once the race for going, the seats filled up more. Still not as good as years past. From where i was sitting, it looked like a decent crowd.

I don't think it makes much sense to compare ticket prices for a facility that hosts two major weekends a year with baseball, basketball, or hockey arenas that have several dozen home dates to sell.

As to football, the nearest teams would either be the Carolina Panthers or the Washington Redskins. Great seats at M'ville average $75. I guaran-damn-tee you the Panthers don't have any $37.50 seats; you're lucky if you can park for $25. There may be some $75 seats for the Panthers, but good luck beating the scalpers and 'bots to one of them There are only 7,200 or so tickets available to the general public and not pre-sold as season tickets to PSL holders.

Did I mention the parking at M'ville is free, and you can bring your own food and drink? Try that at any venue for the other sports you mentioned. Be prepared to be blocked from entering.

The only thing that matters is on the track. I'm so sick of people complaining about attendance.

Let the stands be empty. No traffic on foot or on wheels. Sounds great to me. I don't give a damn how big a pay cut all the oligarchs have to take :D

Show up for a week long BBQ. My dime. I'm not interested in the sport anymore. Same goes for @DUN24, margaritas are on me.

Unless it's a separate week.... As long as it's not during the day on Saturday and Sunday cuz ima be at the track. :)

Do it. I'll be on the pool table.
I don't care who wins which stage, I'm not going to try to guess when the next BS yellow comes out. My TV is dedicated to tanked ratings.

There's no guessing anymore! And people race to the bs yellows now! It's amazing

Lots of empty seats are becoming normal anymore.Nascar is geared more for the TV networks now with the money they are paying.I saw nothing on networks to compete with the race today,so TV ratings should be good news this week.

Can I just say this. During the race there's a ton of napa, advance auto parts, duralast and etc commercials. That's the thing that hurts racing as a whole, much fewer guys work on their cars than they used to.

NASCAR is still going to be the strongest racing by a mile and the new young guys are what has renewed the interest in many 20 somethings IMO, along with the racing improving considerably.

Thing is everything sports wise is dwindling with the exception of football and basketball. It's all cyclical though don't worry

I was there today and it was a shame to see so many empty seats given that Martinsville provides some of the best racing on the circuit and the weather was perfect.

I am surprised some of these tracks(Nascar) haven't reached out to military bases nearby and give away several thousand tickets. It is a way to create new fans and fill up seats that wouldn't be used anyway.Nascar is like Hockey,it's not anything close on TV to what it's like being there.

I hope the powers that be can reverse the downward spiral.
What they're doing now obviously isn't working.

The points need some tweaks. They are closer now than they have been in awhile. It's not going to matter to the stubborn anyways though.

Haven't watched the race, have it on DVR but turned it on briefly to see who was running well and did notice the empty seats. Was surprised but it won't ruin my viewing of the race because Martinsville is one of my favorite tracks ( hope to attend a race there in the next two years or so). But butts in the seat is an indicator of how well your product is doing so for those to say it isn't a big deal, in my humble opinion I beg to differ.

You should be careful about being on this site before watching a recorded race. There are rarely spoiler warnings.
