Lot of empty seats today

It used to be if you wanted to watch a race you had to have a ticket in advance to be assured to have a seat. Now you can wait till day before, check out weather and everything else and still walk up and get a good seat.I don't have tickets for Charlotte race yet,I'm going to wait and see what weather is like. The Monday races in case of rain aren't an option for me.
Ironic. Those are my preference for Charlotte; Atlanta too.

Maybe we are overlooking the short term effects of not having Gordon or Stewart on the track?

Is it broken? Seriously?

So the attendance is down. My understanding is that attendance and viewership is down for all sports; it's just a question of degree. Even the mighty NFL is talking about dropping its Thursday night games. Maybe what was 'broken' was the abnormal public interest during the boom years. Maybe it's all just a return to normal.

Instead of comparing the attendance and viewer numbers of today with those from 10 years ago, I'd love to see a comparison to 25 years ago. Something along the lines of percentage of the general public and sports watching audiences that watch NASCAR in particular and motor racing in general.

I think any sport, TV show, event, etc, that loses more than half it's viewers in a 10 year period would be considered broken economically, because once revenues start to fall things go bad quickly. Shrinking is a lot harder that growing. So I don't think comparing the viewers from 1992 to 2017 tells the story.
