Loudon Race Thread

You I got figured out. Most of you I'm not sure if they're being serious or just talking. :D

Some of you are cool to shoot the s*** with without going overboard.

you were like Kyle in his interview today...on the edge of losing it...pulling back...on the edge...lol

Technically part owner, most likely a small part.

What makes you think Jeff will assume part ownership in HMS when he retires from driving?

You know something we don't?

The way I understand it is Jeff had a hunch that'd Jimmie would be big so Rick said that he'd take Jimmie on if Jeff ponied up some of his own cash to help initially fund the team, and Jeff has retained partial ownership of the 48 since then. I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff stuck around the organization after retirement; Chad Knaus has said that he would like to remain with the organization after he's done CC'ing. Must be a nice company to work for ;)

I'll bet TRL is grinning, we made it through the race joking, having fun and taking an easy shot or two with only a few cheap shot references to the Mikey fiasco and no serious bashing, good job.

Said she was "taking notes" though...that has me a little concerned...we better be on best behaviour next week.

But since it's not next week yet...one more:

motorsports hour on NBCSN..Horse jumping? now that is a stretch.o_O Can't wait for a full HALF hour on FS1 coming up. Hope they get to Kahne to see if he is ok.

Hell I haven't seen behavior this good since last winter, January or February, when nascar.com closed, she's probably happy happy happy.

People who say that dont know what they're talking about.

Big E won 3 championships after hitting 40.

I do think the skills decline after 45, Gant is the exception. Martin had a good year after 45 but that could be attributed to getting a Chevy to drive after suffering through the Ford years. Kinda like getting a steroid to drive in comparison

To be fair to the crew, Jeff messed up sliding through his pit box on that initial stop that shuffled them back to the 20s, and he just never recovered.

It was just bad luck. Story of his season - of his last couple of seasons, really. It is what it is.

I was under the impression that "messing up" and "bad luck" are two separate qualities. Or an expression that in context is used to express two things that are the opposite of each others

Don't get me wrong, I'm just twisting the knife in you Gordon fans. Gordon is an amazing driver and still a threat in any race. I have WAY more respect for Jeff Gordon than I have for JJ. No hard feelings, just roughing you guys up a little. :)

I disappoint, you were doing so well before making nice.

Jeff Gordon un ****** real.

Such a joke. Alan Gustafson is also the worst chief on a big time team.

True that.

Its just unbelievable what that team, personally Gordon has gone through this year.

A driver mistake is made once every 5 or so races. This team, Alan in particular keeps letting Gordon down. 3 straight races with some shenanigans.

Also listening to Alan trying to be a cheerleader on the radio is the worst thing. It comes off as so fake.

Rehaul time.

I don't get it. Why are people blaming the 24 team? He had a great qualifing run and ran great in the race until he screwed up in the pits.
I doubt Alan told him to do that, and I sure didn't see the crew waving him over that line. All I saw was an official waving his arms and the crew dropping the jack to roll him back before anything else was done. It could have been a lot worse.

Agreed, bad luck is an official messing up at Chicago and costing JJ track position. Jeff overshooting the pit stop is what folks in the scientific community call an error.

Excellent National Anthem.
That B17 was beautiful.

Agreed I worked 6am to 6pm today and I am watching the DVR and catching up on the thread.
The Anthem by the girl and the B17 was great. A good reflection of the best in youth, and the past generation of heroes. Not to many WW2 guys around but my thoughts want to honor them, I would carry their briefcase any day of the the week.

I missed the anthem and B17 showcase, but I've flown in one of those years ago and it's a wicked beast- bless all the vets that flew in one back in WW2. My grandfather was in WW2 and passed away 6 years ago now (age 82).

Matt is like a kid in a candy store this year. I heard a rumor that Toyota will give $1 million to the first driver to get them a cup championship.

$1 million? May as well just give that to anybody, $10 million sounds more like it.

Up here in the CFL, a particular running back makes $10 per yard gained, so far he's made over $100,000 ontop of his fat contract (I forget the value). I love bonuses like that, makes me wish I was in some kind of professional sport (I played hockey, raced motorcycles and mountain bikes).

Meh, it's merely semantics. Without getting too far into it, I only used the phrase "bad luck" because a driver of Jeffy's caliber doesn't normally make a simple mistake like that, as reck alluded to. But whatever, poor choice of words on my part.

So, Jeffy made an unfortunate mistake and he and his team never recovered from it. Better?

My bad :) I am just being to harsh on Jeff, it just a routine thing about Jeffs bad luck. I just wanted to mess with the grieving parties.
In fairness I suppose only Helen Keller suffered more misfortune, despair, greif, agony when it comes to not seeing a pit box line.

greg....pretty poor taste w/ ya keller analogy.
might wanna edit ?

jr missin pit board...........entire pit..... yrs ago maybe ?
